• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

But evidence clearly supports evolution. Why discount it when it can be incorporated and supported by the church?
Ive always found the Adam and Eve story to be metaphorical.
Honestly, if Adam and Eve begat Cain and Able, Who was around to help Cain and Able begat their kids? ... Eve?

Could God have been smart enough to design such an elaborate system as evolution?
Cant these two beliefs (evolution and creation) coexist, side by side?
Yep & yep. Though I consider that evolution is still compatible with a literal interpretation.

Taking the process of evolution far enough back and you arrive at the Big Bang. A single point of energy which burst and created the universe. However, science cannot explain where that single point of energy came from. If science cant explain it then science cannot deny the existance of an architect. If science does, eventually, explain its origin then there will be something else, beyond the point of energy, for science to grapple with.
Science is great, I am a supporter, but it leaves no room for a poets soul.

Yes they can. God creates - science describes some of the mechanisms (including evolution) by which he does that.

Only Christians are allowed to respond to threads in this particular forum.

I thought I opened this thread in the "Open to All" section. If I didnt, my apologies, however, isnt it this type of segregation that drives people away from religion?

Debates aren't allowed in this particular forum either. I suggest you brush up on the rules before you get your wrists slapped by somebody.
Where would I post this thread then? I did not come here to make enemies. I just want to have a better understanding of Christianity.

For right or for wrong, the outreach section is meant for non-Christians to ask a question and Christians to respond.

If you want non-Christians to be able to respond also, or you want a full-on debate, you need to go to the "Discussion and Debate" section.

Ok. That makes sense. That is how it is explained. My apologies. I will go there for further debate on this.
FYI Ive just learned that there is such a thing called Theistic Creationism which is accepted (atleast not rejected) by a substantial portion of the church.
Interesting. Im learning already. thanks.

I want to remind everyone that this is not a debate forum. As there quite a few new posters here I would ask that you please make yourselves familiar with the RULES, as your post will be deleted and/or warned if they break the rules.

God Bless Spudgrandma
