  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The internet and Christianity.

I think we take for granted that we don't have to cross deserts or oceans to talk and be in the presence of other Christians. We simply click on internet explorer and come to Christian Forums. When else in history have we ever had a tool such this. To have fellowship with people all over the world and never leave the comfort of our chairs.
I guess this is more of a mission statement for us to fully use Christian forums for more than forums. Prayer circles, prayer chains, accountablility partners, praise circles, ect. I wouldn't call christian forums a church, but electronically we are a linked. So lets start using it right. We the first in history to be able to do so.

I think you are very correct. What else be the Great Commission other than take the Gospel to all of the world? Well, this accesses a part of the world also. Missionaries go on foot to remote villages, we have churches in our cities etc.....the internet is becoming a part of the world also and it is wonderful that it can be used for God's kingdom.

It will never replace "face to face" but it sure can plant seeds and get people started to a point where they can develop a "face to face" relationship with someone more local to them. It also, I have found, to be a great way of learning and edification between Christians and to deepen one own's relationship with the Lord through what we learn from each other.

On a personal level, I actually communicate better via the internet with others because I tend to be more introverted and shy...wallflowery type and can actually minister in ways I have a hard time doing in person. And through this, I find it helps me to be more bold in person also.

Just some thoughts. ;)

Amen! Well said. Christian Forums is a place of fellowship. A place to share the glory of God. A place to pray for each other and be blessed by the Lord through service and ministry. Wonderful statement and very true. :)

It kinda goes hand in hand. More strugle to spread the word means more dedication and more power therfore more impact. Where today less strugle means less dedication and less impact.

What will change this trend? Simple, a real heart that seeks God MORE than comfort!

Well said though I think there is much to be said for face to face talk. I actualy find the internet to be rather limited.

But your right, we do have a great tool called the internet. I wonder how many people have come to know God through it's use.

Yes, indeed, the Internet is a good place to fellowship, listen, learn, and share--especially CF.

Being limited in my 'outside the home' activities due to increasing health needs and age...I love being able to connect with others. It brings edification into my daily life and I hope I can do that same for others. At this stage of my life I simply could never get around and do this much in a church although I do go to one and once was on a church staff as well as involved in multi-ministry tasks in Christian organizations.

Thanks be to God for CF and my other fine Christian forums.

Hi,
I enjoy talking with people face to face, but sometimes it's difficult to find someone who cares to talk about serious matters instead of superficial fodder. That can create feelings of loneliness and is spritually unfulfilling at the same time. I'm thankful for the opportunity the Internet provides for me to communicate here.

Yes, the internet has been a powerful tool for christians. Christian Forums is one of many sites which has been very beneficial to christian needs and non christians. I am very thankful for this, but the internet has it's faults as well. Evil massages does lurks through computers as well as TV's and radios.

Agreed. We need to be discerning about what we read and what we accept as true or not.
