  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Excellent! Putting these two together, remembering one, forgetting the other....excellent. :thumbsup:
I love the Word. He even tells what to think about! :clap:
Ephesians 2
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

As I ponder the fact that I am to remember who and where I once was... lost, having no hope without Christ, I can not help but sit in amazement of all Christ has done in my life. Thinking on all that I should remember in Ephesians it is easier to understand what it is I am to forget in Philippians.

Philippians 3
12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

In Ephesians 2 I am to remember who and where I was without Christ. I am to remember it is by grace through faith that I have been saved. A wonderful gift from God that I never deserved nor could I earn. Remembering I once lived without Christ humbly reminds me I was bought with a price and I am no longer my own. Remembering as instructed in Ephesians 2 keeps one humble. In Philippians 3 I am reminded that no matter how far I may think I have come in Christ ... I have not attained perfection. I am humbly reminded I should not be interested in keeping a record of spiritual attainments ...but forgetting far I have come ... press on in faith to how much farther there is still to go with Christ. So forgetting as instructed in Philippians 3 would also keep one humble.

Romans 8:15

So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”

I love when people tell me that I have no mind of my own because I am a Chrisitan! I love when they say I am a freak for loving my God so much! Why? Because that means I have truly accepted the love of my Father! It means I am showing them a love they wish they could have but aren't willng to ask for! It means they are watching me and that I am planting seeds! It means I al sold out and ready to grow more!

I remember the first time I read Isaiah 60. I was going through a period of transition and I was down for a while, remained faithful to my Father because He's always been Faithful to me. But as I remained faithful...I was still weathering the storms of that season. And then I read, "Arise, shine, For your light has come and the Gloy of the LORD is upon you!" ~ Isaiah 60:1
That one verse brought encouragement to me...my spirit lept inside me and I smiled that smile that says...It'll be alright. And it was ok...that season ended and a new one began...On that brought me to a place where I could "Arise, Shine..."

The Glory of Zion

1 "Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.

2 See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the LORD rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
3 Nations will come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
4 "Lift up your eyes and look about you:
All assemble and come to you;
your sons come from afar,
and your daughters are carried on the arm.
5 Then you will look and be radiant,
your heart will throb and swell with joy;
the wealth on the seas will be brought to you,
to you the riches of the nations will come.
6 Herds of camels will cover your land,
young camels of Midian and Ephah.
And all from Sheba will come,
bearing gold and incense
and proclaiming the praise of the LORD.
7 All Kedar's flocks will be gathered to you,
the rams of Nebaioth will serve you;
they will be accepted as offerings on my altar,
and I will adorn my glorious temple.
8 "Who are these that fly along like clouds,
like doves to their nests?
9 Surely the islands look to me;
in the lead are the ships of Tarshish, [a]
bringing your sons from afar,
with their silver and gold,
to the honor of the LORD your God,
the Holy One of Israel,
for he has endowed you with splendor.
10 "Foreigners will rebuild your walls,
and their kings will serve you.
Though in anger I struck you,
in favor I will show you compassion.
11 Your gates will always stand open,
they will never be shut, day or night,
so that men may bring you the wealth of the nations—
their kings led in triumphal procession.
12 For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish;
it will be utterly ruined.
13 "The glory of Lebanon will come to you,
the pine, the fir and the cypress together,
to adorn the place of my sanctuary;
and I will glorify the place of my feet.
14 The sons of your oppressors will come bowing before you;
all who despise you will bow down at your feet
and will call you the City of the LORD,
Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
15 "Although you have been forsaken and hated,
with no one traveling through,
I will make you the everlasting pride
and the joy of all generations.
16 You will drink the milk of nations
and be nursed at royal breasts.
Then you will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior,
your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
17 Instead of bronze I will bring you gold,
and silver in place of iron.
Instead of wood I will bring you bronze,
and iron in place of stones.
I will make peace your governor
and righteousness your ruler.
18 No longer will violence be heard in your land,
nor ruin or destruction within your borders,
but you will call your walls Salvation
and your gates Praise.
19 The sun will no more be your light by day,
nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you,
for the LORD will be your everlasting light,
and your God will be your glory.
20 Your sun will never set again,
and your moon will wane no more;
the LORD will be your everlasting light,
and your days of sorrow will end.
21 Then will all your people be righteous
and they will possess the land forever.
They are the shoot I have planted,
the work of my hands,
for the display of my splendor. 22 The least of you will become a thousand,
the smallest a mighty nation.
I am the LORD;
in its time I will do this swiftly."

I've always liked:

Then the Lord said, "Go outside and stand on the mountain before the Lord; the Lord will be passing by." A strong and heavy wind was rending the mountains and crushing rocks before the Lord--but the Lord was not in the wind.

After the wind there was an earthquake--but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake there was fire--but the Lord was not in the fire.

After the fire there was a tiny whispering sound. When he heard this, Elijah hid his face in his cloak and went and stood at the entrance of the cave. A voice said to him, "Elijah, why are you here?"

1 Kings 19:11-13

It has always touched me. I sometimes read it if life is hectic and stressful before I pray. It reminds me that sometimes I need to slow down and listen for God in the peace of my heart and His love.
awesome!

No, don't worry about it. I think I may have not communicated this well.

I am completely, totally healed! I have had no itch, at all, in over 27 yrs! I can handle tomatoes and lemons, which were impossible for me to touch at one time, aggravating the condition even more. I never get even so much as a symptom of it anymore. And I take no drugs whatsoever for anything at all.

The biggest key for me in receiving healing of this particular disease was to cast all my cares on Him because He cares for me. There are two truths communicated in this scripture that were vital for me to receive.

1. He really does love me. He cares for me.
2. I need to cast my cares on Him. I worried about everything. Worry was the root cause of the disease.

God knows the root cause of each thing in our lives. He knows what lies at the root of your brother's illness. He knows the deep, hidden places of the heart.

All we need is in Him, in His Word. Nothing touches us that the Lord has not taken care of. We need to lay hold of His Word to us.

Keep standing on this scripture the Lord gave you. Be fixed, immovable, knowing the will of the Lord, and that is for your brother to be restored in his relationship to the Lord, and to be made whole, spirit, soul, and body.
Praise God! Thank you for the encouragement! I am so happy to hear that you ARE completely and wholly healed! That makes the story even that much better that you believed you were healed BEFOR E the healing came and THEN God healed you physically! Wow! Thank you because you don't even know what wonders this speaks to me about things other than healing!

9 But if I say, "I will not mention him
or speak any more in his name,"
his word is in my heart like a fire,
a fire shut up in my bones.
I am weary of holding it in;
indeed, I cannot.

10 I hear many whispering,
"Terror on every side!
Report him! Let's report him!"
All my friends
are waiting for me to slip, saying,
"Perhaps he will be deceived;
then we will prevail over him
and take our revenge on him."
11 But the LORD is with me like a mighty warrior;
so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail.
They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced;
their dishonor will never be forgotten.
12 O LORD Almighty, you who examine the righteous
and probe the heart and mind,
let me see your vengeance upon them,
for to you I have committed my cause. 13 Sing to the LORD!
Give praise to the LORD!
He rescues the life of the needy
from the hands of the wicked.

WOW! This is how I feel sometimes...though not in the same circumstances...His word BURNS in my soul...I can't help but talk about Him. I want to tell everyone about His love!

I added three quotes to my signature.

"And you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." -John 8:32

"That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love." Ephesians 4:14-16

* Agapē (in Greek written αγάπη; pronounced "ah-GAH-peh" or "AH-gah-peh") is the Greek word for divine, unconditional, self-sacrificing love. Greek philosophers at the time of Plato used it in a way that suggested a universal, as opposed a personal, love; this could mean love of truth, or love of humanity. -Wikipedia on Agape

The first, from the gospel of John, is pretty obvious.

The second, from Ephesians, reminds me not to argue over the little things but to strive for over-all unity and love so that we may withstand falsehoods and the trials of our day.

The third, the explaination of the greek word "Agape", reminds me what I should strive for, as God has shown us much agape.

16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all;
17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations) before him whom he believed, even
God, who reviveth the dead, and calleth those things which are not, as though they were.
18 Who against hope believed with hope, that he should become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb.
20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was
strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21 And being fully persuaded, that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

I have personally been in a difficult trial. The victory may not yet be visible ... but my heart still sings praises to God for I know it is on the way! I have read this scripture a lot over the course of the last few days and I have highlighted it exactly as it was birthed into my spirit. The highlighted words read as follows.

Therefore it is of faith by grace to the end the promise. God, who reviveth the dead, and calleth those things which are not, as though they were. Against hope believe with hope. Stagger not at the promise of God through unbelief; but strong in faith, giving glory to God; And be fully persuaded, that what he promised, he's able also to perform.

Believe God and look for the performance of his promise in your life firmly hoping even when it seems hopeless. :amen:

I'm praying too.

God's Word never fails. All His promises are yes and amen. Mark 9:23 says to him who believes, all things are possible.

I have another testimony of healing on these boards somewhere.....long story short, took two yrs. of standing on the Word, but healing came. In this case, it wasn't the Word taking a long time, it was something the Lord had been gently urging me to do regarding my eating habits. It was one of those things where I said, "Is that You, Lord?" If I had only followed that quiet, voice in my heart sooner.....

Praise God, I'm healed now. Maybe I'll dig up that testimony. The hope the Dr. gave was surgery. I'm healed, and never had surgery.

Your girls are healed, and satan cannot steal what is theirs.
