In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Bear in mind that some people might take offense to this question. If you do, I ask that you please dont reply, because I had warned you in advance by the thread title and I want this thread to be open for discussion about the topic's questions.

My question involves heaven. Do animals go to heaven? What about plants and microscopic organisms? If they didnt believe in jesus christ because noone could communicate that message to them, would they be sent to hell? Also, when you die, what do you look like when you go to heaven? Would an unborn fetus be sent to heaven? Is heaven a place where you take a physical form? If so, would you look like what do did at the moment of your death, or moment of birth, or would you look like whatever you wanted to look like? People always want to go to heaven, but what is it like in heaven? People always joke around about how "if there aint baseball in heaven, I aint goin" or something like that. What do you actually DO in heaven? Is sinning allowed? CAN you sin in heaven? Are there consequences?

I'm asking this as a nonbeliever. Answer any question that you feel that you can. If your answer contrasts another person's answer, dont say that that person was wrong. Simply give your answer and, if you want to, state your denotiation (Lutheran, Methodist, etc).

Great question, actually.
As I personally believe that the issue isn't directly addressed in Scripture, we can only go by what we do know.
I don't believe they have the same soul as a person, therefore the heaven vs. hell doesn't really apply.
BUT, I also personally believe (and again this is not found in Scripture) that God knows how much I miss my beloved cat, and He will have hime waiting there for me. Just my opinions here - take then for what they're worth! ;)

I would like to start off by saying that I think this is a wonderful question, and I for one am glad you asked. Too often many people seem to bypass what heaven is, in favor of discussing Hell and such, so as such, I am glad you have focused your questions to Heaven. I hope that I can provide you answers to these questions.

Bear in mind that some people might take offense to this question. If you do, I ask that you please dont reply, because I had warned you in advance by the thread title and I want this thread to be open for discussion about the topic's questions.

Duly noted.

My question involves heaven. Do animals go to heaven?

I have heard that our “Pets” wait for us beyond the rainbow bridge, and when we arrive in heaven, they come over to be with us.

I personally believe that God will make accommodations for those that we Love, and that we will be united with our beloved companions when we arrive in Heaven.

However, I do not know if all animals go to Heaven or not. I do not that God has not provide a “Law” by which animals are to be under, all the Laws of God are focused on Humans, not other animals, as such, they do not need any form of salvation, because they are unable to sin.

What about plants and microscopic organisms?

Life forms like Microscopic organisms do not have the knowledge of Good and Evil, and are not under any specific Law of God, as such, they can not sin, so by default they do not need salvation to be blameless in the Eyes of God.

If they didnt believe in jesus christ because noone could communicate that message to them, would they be sent to hell?

Salvation is only offered to Humans, because we are the only ones on this planet able to Sin.

Also, when you die, what do you look like when you go to heaven?

The Bible says that we will be given new bodies, perfect bodies, that will be eternal. I believe we will look like ourselves only remade into our perfect selves, not our imperfect selves as we are not, haggled by the trials and problems of life, flesh, and sin.

Would an unborn fetus be sent to heaven?

I have no idea on this one, I would guess, depends on the stage at which the fetus terminated.

Is heaven a place where you take a physical form?

Yes and No, it is a place of spirit, but I believe that we will be physical spiritual beings.

If so, would you look like what do did at the moment of your death, or moment of birth, or would you look like whatever you wanted to look like?

We will look as Gods sees us, as his Child, remade into our perfect eternal bodies. Imagine if you never suffered, imagine, if you lived as your superego desired you to live, having never made a mistake, or fallen ill, or withstood trauma, or hardship. God removed all your life’s sorrows, and then remade you as a perfect you. Content, and Filled with a Loving Sprit. You will be complete, and whole.

That is what you will look like in Heaven.

People always want to go to heaven, but what is it like in heaven?

Take a moment of your life, when all your problems went away because your attentions were caught by a moment of beauty, and you felt at that moment, if only for a fleeting moment, a sense of peace settle over you.

Magnify that a Thousand fold, and that will be Heaven.

We will be filled, made whole and complete, and we will be surrounded by other complete and content beings. The greatest of all, is that we will bask in Gods Love, and we will in turn shower God in our love.

People always joke around about how "if there aint baseball in heaven, I aint goin" or something like that. What do you actually DO in heaven?

I have heard that, in Heaven, you will have what you desire. If you desire to Build, then you can build, if you desire to sing, you will sing, Etc.

Is sinning allowed?

Sin shall not enter the Presence of God.

CAN you sin in heaven?

We sin because of Temptation, and when we are remade whole and complete, there will be no temptation to Sin. We will not need or want, or feel the pangs of jealously or Greed, because we will be Content. This by God filing us, and Making us Whole, he removes our Sin, and our sinful state.

Are there consequences?

Sin will not be in the Presence of God, and it will not enter his House.
So, as such, we will not sin, but, like an Angel, (Satan) who chose to turn against God, there will/was punishment for said actions.

But Satan is not a Human, and as such, Satan would have had different rules and Laws of God applied to Him, which would be why he Could have sinned and we shall not.

I'm asking this as a nonbeliever. Answer any question that you feel that you can. If your answer contrasts another person's answer, dont say that that person was wrong. Simply give your answer and, if you want to, state your denotiation (Lutheran, Methodist, etc).

Have I answered your Questions?

My question involves heaven. Do animals go to heaven?

Animals will exist in eternity with God although like humans they will be changed in their nature:

Isaiah 11
6 “ The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
The leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
The calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
And a little child shall lead them.
7 The cow and the bear shall graze;
Their young ones shall lie down together;
And the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 The nursing child shall play by the cobra’s hole,
And the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper’s den.
9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,
For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD

What about plants and microscopic organisms? If they didnt believe in jesus christ because noone could communicate that message to them, would they be sent to hell?

Plants and microscopic organisms do not have the knowledge of Good or Evil and that knowledge is what makes us unacceptable to God. So Only humans are required to accept the Messiah Jesus for salvation.

Also, when you die, what do you look like when you go to heaven? Would an unborn fetus be sent to heaven? Is heaven a place where you take a physical form? If so, would you look like what do did at the moment of your death, or moment of birth, or would you look like whatever you wanted to look like?

We will be like little children in eternity. But as for our physical appearance or size i have no definite answer.

People always want to go to heaven, but what is it like in heaven? People always joke around about how "if there aint baseball in heaven, I aint goin" or something like that.

Well i do not believe we will be spending eternity in heaven. Heaven will be coming to earth in the form of the New Jerusalem. And God will dwell amongst men.

What do you actually DO in heaven? Is sinning allowed? CAN you sin in heaven? Are there consequences?

We will be changed upon the resurrection in our instincts and nature so that we will no longer sin. It’s not so much that we will not be allowed to sin but it will be that we will have no desire to sin.

Simply put, the Bible does not say, so anything we say about it can only be speculation. I choose to say I don't know on this matter.

Also, when you die, what do you look like when you go to heaven?
Again, we are not told exactly, but in this case we are given an example with the resurected body of Christ. Had a physical body and was recognizable in some way by Mary (but if it was due to physical features we do not know. But we also know that this new body will not be exactly like the old one. Jesus' body was able to move through a solid wall. needless to say, the body will not be like anything we currently now of.

Would an unborn fetus be sent to heaven?
I believe this, yes. But this is a deeply contested beliefe.

Is heaven a place where you take a physical form? If so, would you look like what do did at the moment of your death, or moment of birth, or would you look like whatever you wanted to look like?
See my comment above.

First of all this all depends on a person's understanding of heaven. When people speak of heaven they refer to the place that they will spend eternity. The Bible, however, never describes man spending etrnity in heaven, or even going to heaven ( with the exception of Paul, but what he saw was unlawful for man to see and he was only there for a short period). Instead we are told about being in paradise, and the earth being made new, and a new Jerusalem being on Earth.

So, even if man does go to heaven when they die, such a stay is only temperary. So a better question, perhaps, would be what will the new earth be like.

In the Book of Revelation we are told that the earth will be made new. I understand this to mean that it will go back to the way it was before the fall of man and it's curse.

What will we do in heaven? For one thing we know that we will worship God but aside from this we do not know all the specifics. I see no reason for a baseball game to not take place, but that would just be speculation. The important part of eternity is that our relationship with God will be fully restored.

I believe that sin is always possible, but after all is said and done, we will not do it anymore. The purpose of this life can be looked at as a furnace (to borrow the biblical anology). In the furnace all the hay and stubble is burned away and all that is left is the precious metal. In like fasion, our experiances in this life with Christ burns away the sin nature of man and those parts that make us want to sin.

The Bible tells us that there is resurrection of the body in heaven, so we will have bodies. Catholics believe these will be glorified bodies. But I don't know what we will look like, I can only guess that we'd look pretty good.

Animals? We believe that animal souls are mortal and that they die. So they don't live forever like us. They don't go to hell, they just don't exist anymore. But we also believe that God's creation is good, and all that is good about it will be there in heaven. So everything we love about our animals and about nature will be present in heaven. I guess we believe that the 'how' of this is a mystery.

Sin? We believe that our will will be one with God's. So the upshot is that we won't want to sin.

In terms of what we will do in heaven. We don't believe that eternity is just a really really long time. It is outside of time. We believe we will be happy in heaven, that it'll be impossible to be unhappy. We think it's important to get to know God on earth, because then we will have greater joy in heaven when we behold God. We know God is love, so we think heaven will be a place of constant love, loving and being loved.

The unborn? We believe that it is case by case whether a fetus goes to heaven. I think that it is very likely that most do though. We don't think that cognitive ability is necessary to choose God's love over sin.

This may seem weird, but here is the link to a Christian Philosopher called Peter Kreeft. Scroll down to number 24 to find out his thoughts on 'is there sex in heaven?' You can listen to the mp3 for free. There are also some other interesting topics on his website. I would also recommend readin some books by CS Lewis. Mere Christianity is a bit tough to get through, but the Great Divorce is great.

We christians are not offended by questions unless they are not really questions, and have a debating type of agenda attached to them. Your questions don't have that :) , thankyou.

I'm not sure about animals being in heaven. They don't have souls like humans. I'll have to wait for that one, I guess.

For sure, there is no sin in heaven. We will be in the presence of God. What will we do in heaven? Praise and thank God for dying and rising again so we could be in this perfect place. Other than that I'm not sure what else there will be to do.

One thing I know for sure is that heaven will be so wonderful, that our human minds would not even be able to describe it. In the bible it states that Jesus went into heaven to prepare a place for us. Well He's been working on that for a couple thousand years now. It only took God 6 days to create the world, and that turned out pretty wonderful! I can't fathom what heaven will look like  !

I know I didn't answer all of your questions, but I have to get going to work. May God touch your heart with the answers you see here in this thread.

My question involves heaven. Do animals go to heaven?

The Bible doesn't specifically say, but it does give several clues that strongly indicate that they do.

The first and most obvious is that the Bible uses the same word, nephesh, to describe animals as it does to describe the human soul. I have to take away from that that this is telling us that animals have an immortal soul, the same as we do.

The Bible also uses a lot of animal imagery in describing Heaven and the work of God in Heaven.

It's interesting to note that the Bible does tell us that there will be trees in Heaven. So, if there will be trees in Heaven, then why not animals.

If they didnt believe in jesus christ because noone could communicate that message to them, would they be sent to hell?

No. They aren't held to the same standard as people.

Also, when you die, what do you look like when you go to heaven?

I don't know.

My guess would be the perfect version of yourself.

Would an unborn fetus be sent to heaven?

Yes.

Is heaven a place where you take a physical form?

Yes. The Bible tells us that there will be a physical resurrection of the saints.

If so, would you look like what do did at the moment of your death, or moment of birth, or would you look like whatever you wanted to look like?

It's hard to say. The Bible says that we will receive a glorified body, but it doesn't say exactly what that means.

What do you actually DO in heaven?

We will fellowship. We will worship God. We will judge the angels. We will be given creative and administrative duties.

Is sinning allowed? CAN you sin in heaven? Are there consequences?

The question isn't "can you sin", but, "how can someone without a sin nature sin".

The Bible tells us that we will be made perfect like Christ so, no, we won't sin.

Simply give your answer and, if you want to, state your denotiation (Lutheran, Methodist, etc).

Baptist.

John 5:24 Truly, I say to you, He that heareth my word, and believes on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

The key word here is "hear". Something has to hear, know and understand before it is given condemnation as a result of rebellion as well as respect for obedience.

It's my opinion that humans are the only animals that have been granted what it takes to resolve God and absorb him in their minds; therefore they are the only ones capable of his judgement. That still leaves a big blank for "dumb" animal's end game, but all I can say is that they can't be measured like us. Our ability to know and understand is what gives us the right to be pursued by God and therefore gains us any responsibility at all from Him. Animals are on a "software program" only and can only reach within their own levels with limits, but we are able to envision and exceed limits so that we can Know God. It's not exactly cruel punnishment to animals either (if they merely pass through the Earth and into nothing). Think of the pet you don't have yet. The one you hav'nt even seen. The one you do not know exists.....Do you miss it?
Of course not. You can't miss something you don't know (or rather can't comprehend) and it's not an injustice to you either if you missed it and did'nt know that you were missing it! So, animals too don't know what they are missing if they don't go to heaven. So no injustice is done to them regardless. I'm not sure if I answered your question exactly how you expected, but all this is to say that your question's answer should reveal to you just how special you are.

Just a quick point out, if the book of Revelations is correct, the Earth will be remade, therefor heaven isn't the eternal resting place of a Christian, but a corrected version of Earth, so therefor to your question as to what we would look like and be doing, I'd say whatever adam and eve's position was, which appears to be stewards of the Earth and objects in which God can take pleasure in.

Who knows?

As far as plants and mircoscopic organisms, I think they're more like a reproducable resource, as it seems they lack the inability to think, so plants going to hell is just silly.

Animals? There's a verse that says God doesn't forget them, but nothing much more is said, so all I can say to this point, and this relates to all of your other questions for this matter, is that it's for God to know. He knows what he is doing, afterall.

My denomination is listed.

Yes, there will be a new physical world made and a new heavens, so life with God will be anything but boring. We will be brothers and sisters to God in the flesh - Jesus, and share His glory with Him from what I understand.
We are supposed to "Know as we are Known" when we see Him. Exactly all this entails, I do not know, but it is said that we cannot now desribe how illuminated and enhanced existance will be once we receive the new eternal bodies and minds that "know" promised by scripture.
As far as animals are concerned, I have always thought God's kingdom certainly big enough for animals and the beloved pets we may have had in life if we want to see them again. He is life itself, and all life exists because of Him, but from what I see, we will not think much of the past once we are filled with His presence.

1Co 13:12 Now we see things imperfectly as in a poor mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God knows me now.

Hi love this question i dont know how you could think someone could get offended by it. Its good to think of what we are to expect when we get to haven.
I think it would be alot like earth free to do what we want without pain and nothing bad will be in it. Eg...u will remember what happened on earth but instead of remembering the bad about someone u didnt get along with to well i think we will remember them but remember only the good about them.
Why would God want you to forget about earth????? Cos it is ment to be a belssing to us and things that are of blessing shouldnt be forgotten about so i dont think we will forget earth when we get there.
I could be wrong but thats what i believe. it will just be a better earth.

"My question involves heaven. Do animals go to heaven? What about plants and microscopic organisms?

Animals do not go to heaven. The souls of animals come from the earth and return to the earth when the animal passes. Our souls come from God and are mandated to him for judgement on that white throne judgement day.

Also, when you die, what do you look like when you go to heaven?

We were created in God's Image. It is my understanding we will be reunited in our bodies and they will be made whole. There is no sickness or disability in Heaven, all is cured.

Would an unborn fetus be sent to heaven?

Unborn children do go to heaven.

People always want to go to heaven, but what is it like in heaven?

Mans eye has not seen Heaven. There is a great description of HEaven in the Bible. Streets of Gold, Walls of Jasper, Gates of Pearl. Now picture this, Each gate is made from a single pearl. How magnificient is that? Lets just say according to thw Word of God, not the half has been told about how Heaven will be when we get there. I do not need the other half I am excited about what we know.

What do you actually DO in heaven? Is sinning allowed? CAN you sin in heaven? Are there consequences?"

There is no sin in Heaven. So there will be no consequences. As far as what will we do. I wanna talk to Moses, David, Eljiah, and such.

Simple thoughts from a simple man.

Denomination: none I guess I am anti denominational

Plants are said to "wither" in the bible, not die. I do not think plants go to heaven because the Bible never says they are really alive. animals may be in heaven, Jesus is said to be coming back on a white horse, so I guess that may be a literal allegory, or is may be literally true.

we have no indication that *our* animals will go, they are not on the same playing field as people.

In 1 Kings, David says he will see his dead infant again, Also, God has mercy on the city of Nineveh because there are young kids there that "can't tell their right hand from their left" so those two things show that babies that never rejected God are not punished as if they had. I think we have some physical form. I have no idea if they way we look in heaven has anything whatsoever to do with our DNA, or age of death on earth.

I don't know if it will be possible to sin in heaven. But, since Jesus died for our sins already, I assume that if we could sin, it would be treated like a child that makes a mistake. but I really don't think it will be possible. The bible says "anything that is not of faith, is sin" and in a couple places like genesis 3, and in Romans it says that fear is more or less the opposite of faith. I think we will have nothing to fear in heaven, so we will have no desire to sin, since sinning is sort of a way to compensate for fears. So, it just won't seem like a good idea to sin, because we will already have whatever we need or think we want, so it will loose its appeal.
(for example, no need to steal because we don't fear being poor and we don't think we need more money; no need to lie because we will not fear people finding out the truth; no need to covet because we will be satisfied with what we have, etc...)

How did you come to this conclusion? This isn't Biblical, but is actually something that Jehovah's Witnesses teach.

Well, I am not a Jehovah's Witnes and I believe it, so what does that say? Sometimes even heratics get some things right.

Also, JW do not teach this. Yes, they teach that the earth will be made new, but they believe that there will be 144,000 true JW's that will remain in heaven as the true paradise and everyone else that is simply good will dwell on earth.

This is far from the idea be presented on this thread. Man will not remain in heaven after the judgement. As we are told in revelation, the New Jarusalem (where God will dwell among men) will come down out of heaven.

This is a very Biblical docterine. Read it for your self:

waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
(2 Peter 3:12-13)

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.
(Revelation 21:1-3)

First keep in mind that i am guessing on all these answers and that I am just going to try my best to answer them one at a time

My question involves heaven. Do animals go to heaven?

I think so

What about plants and microscopic organisms?
I don't think that really applies because I don't think plants think and feel stuff, but they look good and I think heaven looks good so God may allow a couple up there for decoration :)

If they didnt believe in jesus christ because noone could communicate that message to them, would they be sent to hell?

The animals or people.?

Also, when you die, what do you look like when you go to heaven?

I can't answer that... and I don't think really anyone can accurately answer it

Would an unborn fetus be sent to heaven?

I definently believe so

Is heaven a place where you take a physical form? If so, would you look like what do did at the moment of your death, or moment of birth, or would you look like whatever you wanted to look like?

Well I don't think heaven is a physical kind of place. but I don't know, never been.

People always want to go to heaven, but what is it like in heaven?

Again I can't help you out there
People always joke around about how "if there aint baseball in heaven, I aint goin" or something like that. What do you actually DO in heaven?

Something great I would suppose

Is sinning allowed? CAN you sin in heaven? Are there consequences?

I don't think you would want to sin in heaven

I tried my best. and I don't go to church so i guess I don't have a demonination
