From Jewish Jewels on Facebook
Today is Yom Kippur.
When the Temple in Jerusalem existed, it was the one day in the year that the High Priest was permitted to go into the Holy of Holies. His role was to make atonement for the sins of the nation against God. FIRST, though, he had to make atonement for his own sins against God.
On this solemn day, the High Priest had to exchange his beautiful priestly garments for a simple white linen outfit. It was similar to a burial shroud, and served to remind him, that even though he was the High Priest, his days were numbered and he would soon join all flesh in the grave.
On this awesome day, we will be fasting for the SALVATION OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE. We will also be REJOICING, that YESHUA, our ETERNAL HIGH PRIEST has made an eternal atonement for our sins. Yeshua is not only our High Priest, but He is also the Lamb who was sacrificed for the sins of the world. (John 1:29)
