Yeshua, Our Rescuer

In the 7th chapter of Romans, Paul is talking about the war between our fleshly desires and our desires to serve God with all our heart, mind, and soul. He explains by referencing to himself and how much he loves Torah (God's instructions) but also how much he wrestles with the desires of his flesh, which work against Torah.

Paul explains how rebellion to God's instructions (Torah), in the end, brings death because the law of sin and death is that "the soul that sins dies" (Eze 18:20). Yet, he says, "you" (the one's in the congregation he's writing to), that their faith and trust in Yeshua has set them free from that law. Not that we no longer have to do what God says anymore but that when we fail in following Him, the law of sin and death is no longer applicable, and we have an advocate (Yeshua) to run to who's shed blood covers our sin.

However, there is still a law of our flesh that says, "eat, drink, be happy" which looms big. It will never fully die until the day our spirit leaves our body. Paul says it's a fight to bring the flesh under submission to God's instructions, which are, "holy, righteous, and good" (verse 12).

That's where we find Paul here, crying out "I'm such a wretched man, my flesh desires are so powerful. Who will rescue me?" With great triumph he answers his question, "It is through Messiah Yeshua that I am rescued".
Being rescued from our flesh wanting to take over is a daily, LOL, actually minute by minute event. We can rest assured though that if our faith and trust is in HIM and we run to HIM and not from HIM, we are rescued.
