Wisdom and Understanding

Deut 4:5 Look, I have taught you laws and rulings, just as ADONAI my God ordered me, so that you can behave accordingly in the land where you are going in order to take possession of it. 6 Therefore, observe them; and follow them; for then all peoples will see you as having wisdom and understanding. When they hear of all these laws, they will say, 'This great nation is surely a wise and understanding people.' 7 for what great nation is there that has God as close to them as ADONAI our God is, whenever we call on him? 8 What great nation is there that has laws and rulings as just as this entire Torah which I am setting before you today?

I think the scripture pretty much speaks for itself here.

Question though...was it Moses' law or God's law? People who believe that Yeshua (Jesus) did away with all the laws say that it was Moses' law, yet we see here where Moses says it was God's law. God gave it to Moses and told Moses to teach it.

Keeping any of the law that God gave to Moses to teach does not free us from sin. Only Yeshua did that. However, as we see in the verses, keeping them will cause others to see us as people with wisdom and understanding. What other peoples have a god who cares about them and is close at hand ready to answer when they call? None. Only the the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is like that.

Doing anything that God has told us to do is called obedience. That's a good thing.

We're not to fret over it and get down on ourselves for what we cannot do, but what we can do it is a good thing to do it and to do it with our whole heart. Not because we have to but because we want to.

Of course we're already doing the majority of it. God has written them on our hearts. The ten commandments summed all the law up into two categories. Our relationship with God and our relationship with others. Yeshua summed it down to two laws which would cover them all...love God with all your heart, soul, mind, spirit and love your neighbor as yourself.

God said that one day He would write His laws upon our hearts instead of us having to rely on the one's written on stone. When we come to agreement with God that Yeshua is the only way to the Father and we accept Yeshua as Lord and Savior, I believe that moment is when His laws are written on our hearts. Within us is now the desire to please Him and do what we can to show our faith and our love for Him. Of course, again, the doing has nothing to do with one becoming born again, but it is a sign that you are.
