Deuteronomy 11:22-25 Tree of Life Version (TLV)
So in todays portion we see Moses reiterating what He's told the Israelites over the last few chapters. "If you love Adonai your God, walk in His ways, and cling to Him, then Adonai will cause all your adversaries to run away from you.
Century's later we find another Prophet saying almost the same thing as Moses but not totally. Look at Micah 6:6-8. Micah is speaking on behalf of God to the Israelites. In the previous verses God is asking them "why have you turned away from my ways? What is it that I have done to you that was so burdensome?" He's telling them He's going to tear down the idols they have made. Idols they have been bowing to and making sacrifices to. God's anguish is clear.
Then Micah injects some sarcasim regarding the attitude of the Isralites. "So what is it I should do? Should I present Him with offerings? Will God be pleased with thousands of rams and rivers of oil? Should I offer my firstborn as a sacrifice for my sin?" Then he answers the questions with seriousness, "He has told you what is good and what He's seeking from you: only to practice justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God."
That's what it all boils down to:
Through Micah, since all the details had already been given and could be referred to he just went straight to the bottom line. Practice justice toward God and others, love merce, be kind, and walk humbly with God. Know that you are falling short but be ever so quick to run to Adonai not from Him. Don't be proud and think yourself more spiritual, knowledgeble, etc., because in that attitude you will inevidablybecome unjust and unkind to your neighbor.
Then Yeshua said love God with all your heart, soul and mind, and love your neighbor as you love yourself....the same as via Moses and Micah.
That's all God wants from us. Just as the conditions that Moses and Micah laid out for God's blessings it is no different for us today. Yeshua laid out conditions too for entry into the Kingdom and that was repentance...turning away from our sins and going the opposite direction and walking with Him. We must be born again. If we're born again, we are new creations, all things have become new. (2 Cor 5:17) And the walk with God begins.
