Weeds Among Wheat

Parable Notes: Matthew 13:24-30
Jesus Christ being the Man and Master who sows good seed - Life - into His Creation; the heart of mankind made after His image.
The enemy being Satan and the Devil who sows destruction that leads to death in the heart of mankind - sin.

The slaves are the ones whom they follow. Either Jesus or Satan, but in this short parable only the slaves of Jesus are mentioned here. Jesus Christ has already stated who the other slaves are and set them as examples: John 8:44

Luke 8:15 describes the heart which is soil in this parable.

Verse 25 is interesting because of how the sentence is structured. “While his people were sleeping…” and not “While he and his people were sleeping…”
Why is that?

I believe because of Whom is being described here, Jesus Christ is God whom watches over His people, nothing escapes what He sees.
Or it could be read that His people went to rest without a watchman present during this time and hence why they were surprised and concerned to see weeds among wheat.
But the result is still the same here, the Sower was always present and already knew.

The slaves then asked him what they should do and offered a question of how they could remedy this problem. The One who sown good seed answers them both wisely and prophetically in verse 29 - 30.

What do we know about the Season of the Harvest? God has already explained this to us through His Feasts in the Old Testament. If you follow Jesus Christ through His Gospel journey (Matthew, Mark, Luke. John doesn’t have any parables), you will also see what feasts were taken place, where and the hour mentioned. All of this is important to know and is connected to the Fig Tree parable as well as what is revealed in Revelation: 14:14-20

How is this like the Kingdom of Heaven?
It shows the reflective nature between God and Satan, good and evil, obedience and disobedience, life and death - and its price.
Since the beginning Satan has sown his seed of sin into the heart of mankind.
The crafty serpent instilled doubt in Eve despite what she already knew what God instructed. She saw that is was good in her own sight, and not God’s, and also shared the forbidden fruit with Adam, her husband who was with her.
They ate from this fruit and immediately they knew they were naked. They also knew that they needed coverings in which they used fig leaves…

I won’t go into all of Genesis 3, but that is what I think about when I read this parable. How the war began between good and evil. I truly believe God wanted us as innocent children that listen to His every Word. It’s not just about obedience, but about having that relationship with our Creator, Father God in heaven with loving reverence. I believe that is how this parable is like the Kingdom of Heaven and how children enter in.

God wants the best for us, but we have to be willing to not only hear what He says, but do them as well. That is how we are faithful servants in His House. If we don’t and wander away by our own judgements (what we see fit and not God), we lead ourselves away to certain death - even though the pit is visible and not afar off. It is far better to put our full faith and trust in our Saviour, Jesus Christ. :yellowheart:
