Tiredness

As a teenager, I believe that everybody my age is in a constant state of tiredness. We sleep, go to school (which makes us tired), come home for homework (which makes us tired), eat (which can make us tired depending on what and how much we eat), and go to sleep just to do it all over again the next day. I'm in school right now and I am tired, but I still press on to get schoolwork done. Now, I'm going to relate tiredness to our relationship with God. When we go to school spiritually, we are learning something about God during church, quiet time, a devotional, or fellowship. This can make us tired by maybe hearing some of the "same stuff" over and over again. We don't take the time to try to find the hidden treasure in something we may have already read. There's always something new in the Bible we may not have found yet. Hebrews 4:12 says, "For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires." People who are alive have something new everyday, so why can't the bible (that is a living book) have something new too? The homework relates to the schoolwork. Eating is very important in the bible. Jesus said in John 6:35, “'I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.'" This is important because Jesus wants us to be with him willingly. I say willingly because it says, "comes to me" coming to somebody is your own choice, you aren't being dragged to a destination you don't want. Another verse that has to do with eating is 1 Corinthians 3:2, "I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren't ready for anything stronger. And you still aren't ready..." We may not be able to chew on the Bible's convicting messages yet. And we need to get up to a point where we can. With eating solid food comes strength, and we need strength if we are going up agianst an enemy who knows all of our weaknesses and tailors his attacks towards those. But sometimes we sleep on the job, 1 Peter 5:8 says, "Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour." When we fall asleep on the job; or in other words don't pay attention to God and keep our eyes on Him, the devil has a chance to "devour" us. Take for example a lion trainer, if he were to fall asleep while trying to tame the lion, the lion would probably eat him. We try to "tame" the devil by keeping our temptations under control. I say all of this because our journey with God is a life-long thing. Once we start, we may stop in places and wander off to the side, but God calls us back, and when we come to Him, our journey continues. Living for God is not an event, instead living with Him in our heart is a process.
