I think that people who feel that slavery is a thing of the past are not living in reality. but the best kinds of slaves are the people who think they are free. that way psychopaths can subtly take as much from people as people tolerate or allow. the privileged ruling class has many ways of coercion to fulfill their whims upon others that they think are less than themselves.
people who are poorly educated in morality and freedom have to adopt cultural standards and it is easy to control culture if people believe in certain types of myths and if those people are stagnating and are not in the newness of the spirit but instead just keep adopting the lowest common denominator of the collective of the world.
people in general who keep on depending on some kind of idea that is less than the standards of the kingdom of heaven will always result in a lower form of the world. sadly since so many slaves love their slavery it makes those who love freedom to suffer but Jesus told us to put up with people who love Caesar because he had to put up with it too and of course those people murdered him in the end because they are insane and have a sickness called "sin".
