I've never really sat down and studied the Bible in any great length. Prior to 2015 I think I had only read Genesis from start to finish and maybe Matthew and Jude. For the longest time I was happy to just receive a Bible verse a day via email from WordLive and leave it at that.
Then out of the blue it seems after asking Jesus to help me out I came across Biblegateway.com's reading plans. I jumped in at the deep end with the intense Bible in 90 day plan and it kicked off a thirst for Scripture that I've never experienced before. I have to be honest and say I had to push myself through some of the genealogies and history but it's worth it because I feel a sense of not just accomplishment but also renewed closeness. I don't pretend to fully understand what I am reading but the fact that I am reading it off my own volition is life changing. I managed to stick with the plan for 20 days before struggling to push through Judges and into 1 Samuel which is where I'm at now. I've started flipping to other books, mostly in the NT just for a break from the heavy and more of a yearning for practical living. I'd recommend their plans to everyone especially if you need a kick start to get the ball rolling, it makes it less daunting.
Meanwhile back at 1 Samuel 15...
