Stop The World I Want To Get Off!

I don't know about you, but I get the feeling that we are on the edge of a precipice. And like the lemmings, we are rushing headlong over it.

If I was to make a comparison to then and now, you can put your own then in here, I would have to say the world is totally crazy.

I know that large numbers of people are going about their daily business and are enjoying life to the full. They have got a well-paid job they enjoy, a large home, two fancy cars, two fancy kids, annual holidays to some exotic part, three square meals on the table each day, good communication with parents, and their favourite sports team is winning all their matches and they love the Big Bang Theory which is being played ad infinitum on various channels at the same time.

No doubt that everything is rosy in Success Avenue. Not a care in the world.

I have to admit that I have been there done that except for the Big Bang Theory which I hate because of the canned laughter at jokes which are flat as a tack.

So what is wrong with that? There is something wrong big time. The scripture says what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? Such a question begs the answer...NOTHING. NOTHING AT ALL.

And do you know why? Because whether you have a dime or a dollar or a million dollars it will be of no use in heaven or hell for the simple reason in heaven, we won't need money and in hell, you will have a hell of a time dealing with the fact that is where you are and your money won't be able to buy you any relief from the hell of the place you are in.

So the person who has a million dollars when he dies that is going to hell is worse off than the person who has one dollar who is going to heaven when he dies.

And that is a reason why we should not seek to build treasure on the earth because it is a waste of time. As long as we have enough to live on and some left over to give away, that is all we need and that means not buying a new car every three years which is pride because we love to be seen in the latest and best.

To my way of thinking, buying a new car is a waste of good money. The car I have now which I have had for 17 years I bought when it was 2 years old. The price I paid for it was $20,000 less than the new price. It was a wise investment because, until last year, it has not cost me a single dollar except for routine maintenance and last year I had to spend $3,000 to replace all the worn out parts. In fact, it drives like new again so I guess I am going to have it for another....17 years. Why would I want another more expensive car?

The world is hell bent however in pursuing everything that will make them look successful and wealthy, ignoring the fact that it is dead end street unless you have done serious business with God and got your life straightened out with him.

Unless that happens, you are a lemming rushing over the cliff to oblivion.
