From my Our Daily Bread devotional...
I read about how we should pray and I think I've been praying from the wrong perspective. I think - from what I read - that we should pray from higher up, meaning we shouldn't pray down in the dumps of negativity. God already knows what we need and what we're going through. We don't have to get so low and beg God to answer our prayers in a way that we're demanding God to change his mind or whatever we think we're trying to do in our prayers.
We need to first Praise God for who he is and what he has done and even what we are believing him to do. It's not that we can't ask for things or beg God to do things, but don't be surprised IF the answer is No or even wait. Does that mean that we stop asking or petitioning God? I personally feel that we should always bring our requests to God and we should keep asking IF it's something that we're concerned about.
Right now, it seems that my concerns are getting bigger and I don't know if it's just because I'm getting older and that's the normal run of things, but I guess I have to focus on the now and not dwell on the past.
So my thoughts in this moment is that we need to bring our requests to God but we need to do it in the light of the idea that he already knows why we're coming to him and we don't have to get so stressed out - and just let him hold us.
Ephesians 3:20 is a good place to start in wanting to know what God can do for us.
