  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Our Astonishing God

If you’re fortunate enough to be a parent, you know that there is no more astonishing moment than the birth of your child. There is absolutely nothing like holding a newborn baby in your arms. All of God’s awesomeness is revealed in that moment. Everything we know about our Creator is validated as true when a new life is formed according to His design.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:13-14 (NIV)

There is no way for us to fully comprehend the complexity of the human body. It’s impossible for us to understand precisely how God creates a new life. The details of God’s creative powers are well beyond the limits of the human mind.

“As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.” Ecclesiastes 11:5 (NIV)

Our astonishing God has created every aspect of our earthly existence and beyond. The world we live in tries to minimize God’s contribution or deny it altogether by substituting some scientific equation. Those of us who know God are blessed with a special knowledge that unbelievers are unable to access. We can see what unbelievers cannot. What a wonderful privilege to know God and experience His power first hand. We are each a part of God’s great plan and we should not allow this world to hide that truth.

“For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.” Colossians 1:16 (NIV)
