Like all people with opinions, there comes a time when I must weigh in on the news. An article with this title will be about that. There isn’t much to say here, other than that I will try and limit my commentaries on news events to things that truly matter, or are particularly noteworthy. At the very least, we have 7 months of Trump (including November, December and January before Biden is inaugurated, should he win the election). So a “News and Scoot” on each and every thing Trump says and does from now until then would be tedious and pointless. So, on here will be real news. Maybe some speculation, but it will be news that actually affects people in some way. Actions, not words.
The phrase “News and Scoot” comes from my father. As a child, he would come home in the evenings from work and ask my mom, “Gimme the news and scoot!”. While this sounds like a bizarre redneck phrase, my dad is far too intelligent to be considered a redneck. This was simply a way for him to ask my mom “How was your day today?” in a very unusual and somewhat humorous way that would naturally stop being funny after the first 3 times. He, of course, did not actually want her to “scoot” anywhere. I haven’t heard him say this phrase in years, but the phrase has stuck with me. If it has some origin, I wouldn’t know it.
There are, of course, many things to say about how the news is conveyed to us regular people, but that’s a subject for another time.
