He has been variously described as having godlike powers. In the film he certainly is a formidable character with that infinity gauntlet. But is he really a god?
This big purple, muscle bound titan is a fictional creation of Marvel. He possesses very human flaws and qualities. He is both selfish and yet is capable of loving others. He can be injured and bleed. Without that infinity gauntlet he can be beat up and killed. He has only his physical strength without that super weapon. So he is not a god, but a pitiable and very flawed character playing god. He does a very poor job at it too. He is capricious and even destroys someone he loves to get that powerful weapon into his hands.
In contrast the God of the Christian is infinite, perfect and loving. He is not capricious. He is just. He is not the product of some writer either. Rather this universe is the product of His creative activity. He sent his Son to die on our behalf to take away our sin.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
