My People, Over Whom My Name is Called

2 Chron 7:14 Tree of Life Version (TLV)
“14 when My people, over whom My Name is called, humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

The setting of this particular scripture is after Solomon had finished building the temple. Everything was set to perfection and all that Solomon had desired to do in the temple was completed. God came to Solomon and told him that HE accepted his prayer and that HE had chosen this place as a place of sacrifice and worship.

God told Solomon that if HE ever sent a plague or stopped the rain from the people that if they responded to him in humbleness and prayer and if they turned from the evil that had caused God to bring the oppression, then God would forgive them and heal the land.

Further down in the chapter God explains to Solomon exactly what HE expects from the people:

17 “As for you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, doing all that I have commanded you, keeping My statutes and My ordinances, 18 then I will establish your royal throne as I covenanted with your father David saying, ‘You shall not lack a man to be ruler in Israel.’ 19 But if you turn away and forsake My decrees and My mitzvot that I have set before you, and go and serve other gods and worship them, 20 then I will uproot them from My land which I gave them, and this House which I have consecrated for My Name I will cast out of My sight. I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples. 21 As for this House, which is so exalted, every one passing by it shall be appalled and say, ‘Why has Adonai done this to this land and to this House?’ 22 And they will answer, ‘Because they have forsaken Adonai, the God of their fathers who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and clung to other gods, worshipping and serving them. Therefore He has brought all this misery upon them’”

So per God’s instructions in order for the land and the people to be healed and blessed they were to walk before HIM as David did, doing all that HE had commanded, keeping HIS statutes and ordinances.

BUT….if they turned away and forsook HIS decrees and HIS good deeds and served other gods and worshiped them, they would be uprooted from HIS land and be cast out of HIS sight.

Yikes! How does that apply to the position that we are currently in? Not just as a country but in our homes? In our personal lives? Our bodies and our minds? Could it be possible there is a reason that we may be experiencing havoc? Could it be us who is causing this havoc to come? Could it?
