My letter to the lady at the doctor's office

Today I had a lab appointment and things didn't go so well. I suspect at least one person did not do their job correctly and it fell on me to fix the situation. Dr. O's ladies told me I needed to have such-and-such authorization in order to have the lab test done. NO ONE TOLD ME THIS. I found myself sitting outside Dr. Carlson's office WAITING and fuming. Her clinic was closed and I was told they were out to lunch. Nice.

The time I spent sitting and fuming was also time spent discovering that I had done nothing wrong and it was not my job to fix the problem. Nothing like the bureaucracy of healthcare to make one weak in the knees, which is what happened to me. I grew a spine as I sat there. When I went back to DR. O's office (Carlson never did show up) I let it be known that this was an inconvenient situation for me. I do not have time to sit and wait for someone to return from lunch. The lady said she'd just take care of it for me. Yes, indeed, you will.

I walked out of there after the blood draw much calmer. While my note was unnecessarily hostile, it did help me calm down. I won't send it or anything:p
