If one was to be asked what is the central proclamation of the Christian gospel many would answer like me "Jesus Christ is Lord."
If we are asked what is a core belief some would answer "life." Jesus said he had come to give life and to give it more abundantly and John says that his life is the light of men. There are many other verses which speak of life and light.
Essentially the sharing of the gospel is to bring life to a person that is dead in their trespasses and sin. Once they are born again, they are meant to celebrate life in all its fullness. That means death in any shape or form has no part in the way they live. If what they are doing does not facilitate life, they have no right to be involved in it.
Despite what man might say, abortion is off limits for the true believer. Central to every abortion is death as every abortion kills a baby. Of course, we know that those that favour abortion as the answer to their problem, do all they can to deny there is any life in the baby in the womb.
But as we know when death is involved man endeavours to legitimise what is not legitimate and totally inhuman. Bernard Nathanson, who was a prominent abortionist said in a TV interview that every abortion kills a baby so when people deny this fact, I ask them what they know that the abortionist does not know.
Incidentally, Nathenson became a believer and as a result gave up aborting babies.
There is no place in the gospel or in the believer's life for deliberately taking life. That means that abortion is off limits. I have followed this issue for about 30 years now and have seen countless times that Christian parents have taken to heart the injunction of "Do not murder" literally.
They knew they were going to bring a disabled life into the world but they did not consider abortion was an answer. Many in actual fact gave birth to a normal baby because of an incorrect diagnosis.
Some mothers have given birth to a baby that was the result of rape, refusing the lies of secular man that they would hate the baby and resent it. The found that they love the baby regardless.
One mother gave birth to a baby that lived for 13 hours and for that 13 hours she held the baby in her arms and thanked God for such a precious gift.
Every baby is a precious gift from God. To be cherished, loved, nurtured and hugged. Even more important, they need our time, not our money.
