Although it was a movie…it gave a point that God was the one in control and what one person’s intention of harming others God will turn around and use it for good. So I am sure you want to know the end of the story. The con man falls in love with the boy’s mother; and because of the pressures of creating a true miracle of healing to this young boy. Suddenly, everything becomes personal for the con man. Con man decides to quit conning people and plans to sneak out of town after the last day of the tent crusade. So on the last day of the revival the crowd chants for the con artist to heal the boy. He knew he was caught. He looks up to God and asked if he was real if he would heal this young boy. The boy got up from the wheel chair and started to walk in faith. Many knew the boy from birth and started praising and worshipping God. The con man was in shock. This miracle caused the con man to believe in God but to his own shame. While everyone was rejoicing he sneaks out to his truck and started to drive…as he was driving, his truck breaks down in front of the house of the farmer (father of the mother and grandfather of the young boy) that had asked for rain. He knocked on his door and was about to confess to the farmer about his lies when droplets of rain started crash on the hood of the car and then it started to pour down raining. I cried because the whole town came out of that tent and started praising God in the rain. I cried because what this man intended to do harm God meant it for good. GOD IS ALWAYS IN CONTROL. HE IS THE MIRACLE WORKER…AND IT WAS THE TOWN AND THE BOY’S FAITH THAT BROUGHT RAIN AND HEALING NOT THE CON MAN. THE CON MAN WAS JUST THE INSTRUMENT. GOD USES ANYONE THAT WILL ACCOMPLISH HIS WILL AND TO MAGNIFY HIS GLORY NOT BECAUSE WE ARE GOOD AND DESERVING EITHER. God had brought the con man to the realisation knowledge that he was real (and although we can surmise by the story’s ending is that con man has probably came to faith, himself as well as that young boy and the entire town. God won at the end of the day.
So what if, you ask, if Todd Bentley was a con man. At the end of day, He is not healing those people…IT IS Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who died on the cross and rose from the dead three days later. Death could not hold HIM down. How many of those like myself were watching and with deep compassion and mercy we started to pray that God please heal this one and that one of (cancer, AIDS, cerebral palsy, deafness, blindness….). I am not a healer but something inside me prompted (just like those in the audience) to stretch out my hands and pray for those who were sick. I did not hear testimonies that ‘Todd healed me‘ but Jesus. It is a Leap of Faith that caused that young child with cerebral palsy to get out of his wheel chair believing that Jesus will heal him. Perhaps, we need to learn from this young boy that it is Jesus who heals and Todd and the rest of us are just the instruments acting as hands of God touching with our compassion and mercy as we pray for God to do his miracle. God can do anything but fail.
God Bless, Psalms.
