[ Samuel Anoints David ] The LORD said to Samuel, "How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king."

God lifted Saul up, but He also brought him down for being disobedient and rebellious. Samuel was mourning this 'king,' that he had put all this time into, who was a failure. It wasn't God's plan for Saul to fail. When he did fail, though, God didn't mourn, He got a new plan !

Sometimes, You have to call many people to do a thing. Some only get part way there in Your will for them, then fall and never regain their walk with You. Your plans will NOT be thwarted. You just change direction and get a new plan; Calling a new and available person.
