  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In His Presence

If Jesus arrived at your doorstep today would you be ready? In the Parable of the Bags of Gold/Talents (Matthew 25:14-30) Jesus teaches us to always be good stewards of all the gifts and abilities he has given to us. I want to say I’m ready to be in his presence, but truthfully, I’m not certain I’ve preformed to my full potential. If I stop and analyze every aspect of my day there is always more that I could have done. The problem I think we all deal with is our ability to organize, quantify, and allocate our time. There’s no question the devil is at work trying to keep us distracted by daily challenges. If we let those distractions move us off in the wrong direction we may be missing opportunities to serve God. As followers of Jesus Christ our ultimate goal should be to please him in all that we do – every moment of every day. When we stand in his presence it would sure be nice to hear him say “Well done, good and faithful servant!” (Matthew 25:21).

It’s probably a good idea for all of us to occasionally step back and take an inventory of how we spend our time, how we share our resources, and how we share God’s love. Perhaps equally important is to make an attempt to identify the devil’s deception. We can’t go around pretending the devil doesn’t exist – he wants us to ignore him so he can continue to derail our efforts unimpeded. We need to shine a bright light into every dark corner of our lives and clean away any unneeded impediment. When we pour every aspect of our lives through a filter of love what flows forth will be the kind of life that will do well in the presence of Jesus.
