If I may, I saw this discussion on the main board. Normally I would not even enter this kind of unwinable debate. I believe it is usually reduced to "no there ain't" "yes there is" after a while.
I just want to make a couple points and I may come back to see how things progress. Bear with me for a moment. These are my belief and I do not consider them FACTS as many believer and non believers consider what they BELIEVE to be factual when it is merely the best conclusion a human mind can accept.
Now, There are a few things going on here. The athiest wants to be able to see, touch, taste, hear, or smell God with the senses. This is 100% irrrefuatble evidence that the God character exists. In that regard, the athiest wins. Point scord, game over.
The God believer and now many scientiests see a creation *the universe* or *man* and our ability to know ourselves as in we are the only species that knows we are mortal beings, we are time based, we WILL die. The is a beginning and an end ABSOLUTE. cannot be refuted cannot be denied WE WILL DIE EVERYTHING DIES. This would further indicate there is a power that exists that has absolute power over us. Even if that power is to be considered the power of life&death. It is absolute or *All-Powerful* It IS the beginning and the end, the Alpha-Omega. A timeless power or as we have grasped it a timeless being. An all powerful entity exists. Point scored. God believers win.
We can repeat this process for ever and never reach an answer.
Among others, the main difference lies in this (for me personally, this is where we get into beliefs that are not proveable but are certanly truthful for many)
Humans seem to have been born with a question inside them...Who am I? Why am I here? What am I supposed to do with my life?
In my humble opinion, these are the questions built in by our higher power. We could be like monkeys and just eat sleep have sex and die but no. We want to do stuff. We went to "make a difference" we go on quests for "answers" we meditate, we read, we have things we are passionate about that are beyond food and shelter. We seem to have a longing. I believe this longing is this higher power calling us to commune with it. It's up to us to choose to hear it or answer the call if you will.
Even an athiest coming to a Christian website to debate the existance of God would indicate someone looking for answers. Someone who wants God to be real but can't accept it past the intelligent mind because of the touch tase etc. I spoke of before. More difinitive proof is needed so we invite debate. Hoping deep down that someone can explain this thing to me the way I can understand it.
Ghandi said "I love Jesus, it's the Christians I have a problem with" People that "believe in God" have made a mockery of a life creator by being life destroyers so I never blame someone for not believeing in the same God as someone who would torture and murder people. I just try to get what I can out of it and live my life by loving my neighbor and humbling myself to the fact that there is a being out there that is greater then myself.
Most people can't fathom a being greater than themself so they say I don't see anyone smarter than me so I must be the smartest. No, the universe is the computer and it had to have a programmer to write the phsyics, gravity, chemisry, and lighting program etc.
