As a minor, my party was weak because I avoid battles and wasn't thinking about gaining experience points. I'd not choose to learn new moves/skills wisely. I also didn't know what training spots to find in order to level up faster. In order to get stronger, you'll have to participate in battles, defeat your enemies, and gain experience points. Keep battling, until you had earned enough experience points for your party members to level up and sometimes learn new moves/skills. Repeat this process throughout the whole game. When you learned new moves/skills, choose your moves/skills wisely. Try to make your party members learn one of the strongest, useful, and supportive moves.
Also, when you level up. Your stats(skills) increment per each level up, making your party grow slightly stronger per level up.
Challenge: Try to reach max level.
Tip: Play RPGs like Pokemon, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, etc. or whatever game that is part of that genre. Remember, gaming is mainly based off of three types: skill, strength, and luck.
Tip 2: When you reach the end of the game, try to find a good training spot to level up your party faster. Or, you can try to fight stronger enemies, but not too strong and defeat them to gain some more experience points.
