As a minor, I wasn't focusing on gaining new skills in RPGs. I played RPGs as a minor, but I didn't gained any skills because I'd avoid getting in battles with enemies and wouldn't trained. Now, I have been participating in battles to earn experience points and sometimes unlock new moves/skills for one of my party members after leveling them up. If you want to gain some skills, try playing RPGs like Pokemon or Final Fantasy or any games that part of that genre.
If you participate in battles, you earned experience points, in-game currency, items, or sometimes equips. Depending on what RPG you're playing. Also, when you level up your party. Sometimes, you gained and learned new moves/skills depending on what level you had reached. Also, you level up. Your party gets slightly stronger by one level.
