"But the children struggled together within her; and she said, “If all is well, why am I like this?” So she went to inquire of the Lord ." (Genesis 25:22 NKJV)
Rebecca became pregnant after waiting on God for many years. The babies struggled in her womb and she decided to find out from God what was the issue. We have lost this act of holy curiosity today! We tend to have answers to all the questions. If we will grow and become fit to manage our inheritance in Christ Jesus, we must begin to probe further into God about our callings.
Many men of old like Abraham, Moses and Gideon asked specific questions from God. They probed further into His mind and became more convinced about their callings. This could partly explain our lack of convictions for our ministries.
Jesus wants us to become like little children in order enter into God's kingdom. One of the attributes of little children is the ability to ask of manner of questions. When you are talking to a child, he or she will not wait till the end of the presentation before asking questions. But, unfortunately as we grow older, we learn the art of concealing our ignorances. We learn the art of hypocrisy, pretending to understand everything.
If we must grow with God and have deeper relationship with Him, we must return to this wonderful attitude of asking relevant questions. This does not mean that we should release all the questions that crossed our minds, we must ask questions that are related to the topic.
Lack of godly burden in our hearts is another factor that will not allow us to ask right questions. Rebecca had a burden, she was pregnant. Gideon had a burden, they were being oppressed by the Midianites. Genuine burden will leave us with no choice than to ask relevant questions.
ACTION PLAN: Decide today, under God, to as Him relevant questions about everything around you.
PRAYER: Father, help me to probe further into your mind by asking relevant questions.
