Last night, this guy decided to tutor me for upcoming exam. As we talked, we got sidetracked. As I was asking him questions about himself, I could immediately tell that this guy was very bright. What kept urking me, though, was that even though I kept reminding him of this, it was like he didnt believe it. He genuinely did not believe it. And i kept thinking, "HOW can you be so smart, have people tell you you're smart, have so much academic and vocational potential, but NOT BELIEVE YOU DO?"
But then, a thought hit me as to why this bothered me so much: I was in the same boat with him.
People have given me compliments before concerning something else. And I may remember it, thank them for it, but not receive it whole heartedly. Just like him
