The Jewish people have a prayer for everything...literally, everything. The prayer for studying Torah (God's Word) is:
It has been questioned why the word la'asok b'diirei was used instead of "lomed", which means to learn and study. The reason is a difference in the action involved.
They were given details of all to do except they were not given a way to fix it. No recipes. They could cook it, boil it, or however they wanted to fix it was their choice. I'm thinking that their finished dish for each family tasted the way that family desired it to taste. (See Num 11:7-9)
God's word has many branches extending in many directions. It is studied by individuals from all walks of life and from the aged to children. Each person finds in the study of God's word what they need and according to their level of understanding.
Of course, this does not mean that one can imagine that God says something He does not. God is quite clear in His word and while we should have helps from other studies, we should never just believe whatever another person has concluded on the matter, they may be wrong. It's important to do our own gathering.
It's comforting though, for me anyway, to know that God is meeting me where I am and not standing over me like a drill sergeant barking orders expecting me to be at the level of someone else. We shouldn't be doing that to each other either.

- Not every person has the ability or time to learn or study on the level that is required by the verb lomed. However, every person can attend to, engage in, occupy oneself with, be immersed in, be busy with, and practice Torah according to one's ability, time, and need to cling to the word of God. ~Annette and Eugene Labovitz, Time For My Soul~
