Prayer is an act of obedience. God calls us to pray and we must respond. God takes great delight in hearing our prayers and meeting our needs. God knows our needs well before we know them. It's comforting to see we have a Father in Heaven with a hallowed name.
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. —Philippians 4:6 (KJV)

- The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective (James 5:16)
- Grows our relationship with Jesus (Ephesians 3:14-19)
- Helps us overcome temptations (Luke 22:39-40)
- Helps us determine God's will (2 Timothy 1:7)
- Prayer accomplishes God's work (John 14:12-14)
- A weapon against spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:10-20, 2 Corinthians 10:3-4)
- Pray for those who persecute you (Matthew 5:44)
- A prerequisite to spiritual awakening (2 Chronicles 7:13-14)
- Prayer is valuable to God (Hebrews 7:25, Revelation 5:8)
- Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful (Colossians 4:2)
- Make all requests, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for everyone (1 Timothy 2:1)
- Pray continually (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
- And when you pray (Matthew 6:5)
- This, then, is how you should pray (Matthew 6:9)
- Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer (Romans 12:12)
- Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests (Ephesians 6:18)
