Part 1: The absolute LIE of "Yo-yo Salvation".
What lies does "yo-yo salvation" teach?
- every time one experiences a negative emotion, even as an automatic reaction, one has made a choice to feel that way.
- every time one experiences a negative emotion, one has sinned against God.
- even if one successfully controls one's behaviors so as not to make that negative emotion a cause for nastiness toward another, simply feeling that emotion at all constitutes sin (they use Jesus' teaching about lust = adultery in the heart, etc. to push this idea)
- every time we sin we break our relationship with God and place ourselves in an "unsaved" position
- every time we sin we must come to Christ all over again as if we never had done so before; and
- every time we sin we must repent specifically and thoroughly in order to be restored to a saving relationship with God again
- this repentance must include not merely being sorry for the sin but also being able somehow to guarantee we will never again, not even by accident, commit the same sin
- if afterwards we commit the same sin again, especially if we do it "knowing better", we thereby "prove" ourselves insincere about wanting salvation or wanting to follow Christ.
What bes the RESULTS of imbibing the lies of "yo-yo salvation" and its toxic soteriology?
- levels of guilt and condemnation will crush you continually, and make trying to live out faith under those beLIEfs a treadmill of increasing futility
- the ability to receive forgiveness from God through Christ, to be aware of grace and mercy at all, will be destroyed
- your faith will eventually be utterly shipwrecked and irreparably shattered
- your soul will be prised open making you vulnerable to increasing demonic oppression and infestation
