Deleted RPG Scene

***This segment is from an RPG one of my friends and I are collaborating on. I wrote it down, but I never used it as I thought of something that better suited my character's situation. Just so you know beforehand, my character is one of those to be redeemed so- don't hate her just yet. :p

And another one for me!” came the loud and slurring exclamation. The man slammed his empty glass upside down on the table, rather clumsily, and shot a grin across the table at his opponent. Otto currently had ten small, empty tumblers set upside down in front of him, with two more full ones waiting to be downed.

Kes Lee looked at the glass in her hand with a falsely hesitant expression. They had been at this game for nearly an hour and Otto was beginning to bore her. However, this was her favorite game and she never ever lost. She put the glass to her lips, wincing slightly as the liquid seared down her throat. Her hand seized the edge of the table and she let her eyelids flutter briefly for effect, appearing as though she might actually pass out before she had finished.

Otto’s eyes glimmered and he leaned forward in anticipation at seeing Kes fall out of her chair. “See, see? I told you she wouldn’t last,” he said giddily, wagging a finger at the other patrons who were standing around the table, having drawn interest in seeing how the game turned out.

Kes could not contain the slight grin that emerged around the rim of her glass before setting it accurately on top of the pyramid she had cleverly been building with her supply of tumblers. She sat back in her chair and swallowed the remainder of the beverage.

“And that’s one more for me,” she echoed mockingly, tilting her head to one side and studying Otto with a smirk. She let her fingers walk across the table and flicked the small bag of coins that was to be awarded to the winner. “We’re tied,” she pointed out in an exaggerated whisper and then raised her eyebrows to challenge the chubby little man further.

Otto sat back down in his seat, a little too hard, and frowned. He would not be bested by a woman and most certainly not by this exceedingly arrogant one. He picked up his second to last drink and faced it with a slightly cross-eyed expression.

Kes knew it was only a matter of time before Otto was finished; so she conveniently placed her foot on the edge of his chair beneath the table so as to ‘assist’ him when the time came.

Otto took in a breath, tipped his head back, and poured the liquid down his throat. It took him slightly longer than usual, but he finished it. Turning the glass upside down with some difficulty, he placed it with all the others and grinned widely.

“Migh’ have to add in some ov’rtime,” he slurred, still grinning evilly at Kes.

Kes only stared at him with a patient expression.

Otto sat back in his chair, chortling, and then heaved a weary sigh. Suddenly, his eyes rolled back and with the combination of his weight and the slight shove Kes gave to his chair, Otto toppled over backwards completely unconscious.

Kes stood up and wobbled slightly, displaying her obviously intoxicated state. Of course, she still hadn’t won; so she picked up her two remaining glasses and finished them off, one after the other, and then added them precisely to the top of her pyramid with an accomplished smirk. She snatched her winnings off the table and hefted it in her hand once with a grim smile. “Thank you, Otto – it’s been a pleasure,” she drawled to the snoring body on the floor and then stepped lightly over him as he mumbled a drunken reply.

Note: I do not approve of getting plastered drunk in real life. This is just a story; with the purpose of showing just how far gone my character really is. Hmm...this might make a good rant topic...
