Death sucks. Mostly because life seems so short. If life lasted a reeeeeaaalllly long time, death might not be so bad.
Also, death is an unknown. Well, maybe. We know some things about death. When something dies, they're blood will stop. Their cells breakdown. And eventually the "stuff" that makes up their body gets recycled back into the Earth. That we know pretty darn well.
But we like to think there might be some unknown stuff we don't know about. And we hate not knowing. We have sooo many stories about how much people HATE the unknown, and the trouble that gets them into (Pandora's box, Goldilocks, Lot's Wife). We want to know, we want to see. I get it.
So in conclusion. Death sucks. We don't know what death is like, until it happens. And life is better (usually) and we don't know what it's like not to have it.
It took me a number of years, but I'm getting better at dealing with the concept of death.
A favorite quote... "I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it."
