Some Groups Insist on Being the Ruling Authority On Earth for the Church, Usurping Jesus’ Role as Head
A cults ruling body usually is the "sole interpeter of truth". Some denominations insist their ruler or council of elders does this same thing. They replace Jesus as the acting Head of the Church. (They think they do, but that is where they depart from Him.)
“And hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is His body, the fulness of Him that filleth all in all.” Eph 1:22-23
“Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,”
1 Peter 2:7
“So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.”

Nicolaitans = Ruler of Man
Man was never intended to rule the church. There is headship of local bodies, but the present day ministry of the Holy Spirit is to lead and guide all followers. This includes both the “shepherds” and the “sheep”.
Those submitted to God will flow in harmony with the purpose of God under the headship of local pastors. This will be evidenced by the works of God in their midst, accompanied by supernatural peace, love, and joy.
Jesus’ Flock are to Have Intimate Relationships with Him and Know His Personal Guidance
“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is true, and we are in Him that is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
1 John 5:20
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me:”
John 10:27
“He that hath My commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth Me: and he that loveth Me shall be loved of My Father, and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him.”
