Well, I guess I was pretty upset in my last blog entry :o
Work has slowed down again. On Monday eve I was called out at 11pm but it was a short trip. Trips that are under 2 hours we get put back on the board at number 1 so that we can get the next trip. I got home around 1 or so and barely got into bed, pulled the covers over me and the phone rang. That time I was sent to and in the middle of the boonies place. I'd been there before but it had been during the day and I it had also been awhile since I'd been there and I'd forgotten how far out it was.
So here I am driving along and I hear the UP dispatcher talking with my crew asking if they'd heard from their van driver yet. Up to that point I had not heard the crew at all. So I got on to let them know where I was. So, I think I see the headlights of a train off to the side, it looks like the right place so I turn on the dirt road. I go a ways and realize it's not a train but a light on a house and I've turned on the wrong road. So I go back out and continue down the road. Then the crew calls out and asks where I am now. I let them know and then I turn down another dirt road where I can see a bright light (could be a train) and again it's the wrong road.
At that point I'm frustrated. I'm looking at the map and (it's like 4 in the morning now) it's all just going right over my head...frustration and being tired does that to me. So what do I do? I call my manager, tell him where I'm at...it's a good thing he likes me I think
. So he tells me where I need to go to be where I need to be. And, finely I find them.
Then it's a couple of hours drive back to where I drop them off at their hotel. There is a restaurant right next to the hotel and one of the guys offered to buy me breakfast so I took him up on it.
Breakfast is my fave meal.
When I got home I rested for 10 hours and I was called out again...to the same place. LOL I did not have any trouble this time though. I was out again all night though. But I've rested now over 24 hours. I've been at number 4 since yesterday. It is moving slow.
The weather here has gotten cold a bit early I think. It was not this cool a year ago at this time. I can hardly believe it's been a year already. It all went too fast.
I avoided coming here for so long yet it's here that I'm doing better financially better than ever....even though I'm making way less money than ever. Who'd a thunk?
