A while later Charlie had loosened up a bit as they reached a tall building. It was obviously old, it was built of concrete and wasn't as tall as the other buildings. Charlie pressed a button on a small console. "Miguel open up."
A voice came out of it, it was slightly garbled as it said "Who's the girl?"
Charlie glanced at Claudia before pressing the button again. "Her name's Claudia. She was one of the come patients."
There was silence for a minute before a lock was heard clicking. Charlie nodded and opened the door, letting Claudia walk in and look around. The inside of the building was musky, dirty, tools laying everywhere. Charlie walked up behind her. "Welcome to my home."
She glanced at him. "You live here?" she asked, slightly disgusted.
Charlie chuckled and walked in front of her, towards an elevator on the far side of the room. "I actually live upstairs. It's much more civil than the wear house that the first few floors are built as."
Claudia nodded, following him onto the elevator. She watched as the number went up as they passed each floor. Compared to the other buildings this one is incredibly old fashioned. To Claudia on the other hand it was perfectly normal. For some reason this building was made like the buildings from when she went into the coma. The number stopped at floor 13 and the doors opened to reveal what looked like a hospital room, both walls lined with five beds each. Nine of them had teens in them but one was missing someone.
"Who's missing?" Claudia asked as they walked off the elevator.
Charlie chuckled. "You."
Claudia thought about it a minute then nodded. "O-kay...why did I wake up and they're still asleep?"
Charlie shrugged, sitting down on the empty bed. "Don't know. We've got some more people upstairs, they're from when you went out. These have all fallen asleep since then. The ones downstairs have been slowly waking up but Miguel and I are telling them they're in a nursing home."
Claudia sat down next to him, a bit closer than she'd meant to. "Why lie to them?" she asked.
Charlie shrugged. "I don't know. Miguel said that it's for the best. Something about with how long they've been out they won't know any different and with how much the world has changed they might not be able to handle it."
Claudia nodded slowly. "Have any of them died?"
Charlie shook his head. "Surprisingly no. You'd think if they're 80 something that they might have died but I guess in a comatose state you're alive but you're not."
Claudia sighed and looked around. "Why was I down here if I went out with the others?"
Charlie looked at her and said "I thought it would be a good idea if you woke up around others your age."
Claudia nodded. "I see." they sat there in silence until Claudia asked. "So when do I get to meet Miguel?"
Charlie stood up. "Right now." he said, grabbing her hand and dragging her to the elevator. She laughed slightly as he pulled her into the small room as the doors closed behind them. Charlie pushed the button to go the the top floor before turning to Claudia and smiling. "So, tell me about yourself. I need to have an impressive resume for Miguel."
Claudia chuckled. "Well I was born in 1947, lived through several wars, I'm a mutant, worked with both the X-Men and the Brotherhood, I'm a mother..." her sentience slowed to a stop.
Charlie stood there a minute before asking "You have a kid?"
Claudia nodded. "Ya, Ranger Crane. He's probably dead by now." she said in shock.
Charlie bit his lip, before he could say anything the doors to the top floor opened and standing there was a handsome young man. He had messy, brown hair that slightly covered his ears, a scruffy beard and calm brown eyes. He was smiling until he saw the look on Claudia's face. He rushed over to her, "Are you ok?" he asked.
