Connecting Words

Music both playing an instrument and listening to it have been a major part of my life for a very long time, recently I've tried to be more aware of what I am listening to but I find I miss secular music after awhile. These three songs have been going around my head lately, they are all secular but it's Jesus and our relationship in my head I'm thinking of when I sing them. After a having a conversation with my mum the other day about this topic I don't feel quite so bad about listening to some secular music I just have to keep an eye on it and make sure it's not the only music I listen to. And being discerning in other areas will also benefit my soul.

Roxette - No One Makes it on Her Own.
Have you ever had the feeling
You take it all for granted
You wake up every morning
And expect to rise
Have you ever had a moment
To look into the mirror
To find a person
Who wont open her eyes
Have you ever felt a presence
(Or is it all in the past, dear?)
So mesmerising
It chills you to the bone
Have you ever been in love
And overcome that first fear
Well, then you know
No one makes it on her own

Did you ever catch a sunset
Right across the ocean
The universe revealed
And it didn't make sense at all
When you came into my world
Causing quite a commotion
I could have sworn Ive met you
Many times before
Cos theres something in your eyes
That links us together
Something bout your face your lips
Your smile looks so alone
Have you ever been in love
And thought it'd last forever
Well, then you know
No one makes it on her own

Hey, theres something in your eyes
That links us together
Something bout your face your lips
Your smile looks so alone
Have you ever been in love
And thought itd last forever
Then you know
No one makes it on her own

Nobody makes it on her own
Nobody makes it
Nobody makes it
Nobody makes it on her own
No one makes it on her own

Tegan and Sara - Fix You Up
What do I, what do I, what do I need
To do to get myself in a better mood
What do you, what do you, what do you need
To do to get yourself in a better mood
Well there's not a lot for you to give if you're giving in
And there's not a lot for you to feel if you're not feeling it
You bring it up and bring it in and we'll get you fixed up in no time
What I wanted most, what I wanted most, what I wanted most
Was to get myself all figured out
And what I figured out, what I figured out, what I figured out
Was that I needed more time to figure you out
There's not a lot for you to give if you're giving in
And there's not a lot for you to feel if you're not feeling it
You bring it up and bring it in and we'll get you fixed up in no time
Cause this love is all I have to give
This love is all I have to give

The Carpenters - For All We Know
Love, look at the two of us
Strangers in many ways
We've got a lifetime to share
So much to say
And as we go
From day to day
I'll feel you close to me
But time alone will tell
Let's take a lifetime to say
"I knew you well"
For only time will tell us so
And love may grow
For all we know

Love, look at the two of us
Strangers in many ways
Let's take a lifetime to say
"I knew you well"
For only time will tell us so
And love may grow
For all we know
