001cotm Heroes Of The Old Testament

Hi to everyone at ChristianForums.com. My name is Lucas White. In my first day here, I have enjoyed discussing Christianity, history, and philosophy with you.

Please allow me to state first that I am thoroughly convinced that God is real and that Jesus Christ is the only way to fellowship with Him. This site is enjoyable because there are people of many different faiths and non-faiths here. Of course, my earnest wish is that all will come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ and accept His free gift of salvation.

Today I am going to share with you five entries from my work-in-progress project, IMDEX.org. It is an image-based encyclopedia where religious and secular figures are each assigned a single icon, and in many cases I have also added the text of their biography in outline form.

Here are 5 Heroes of the Old Testament, from our Israel section:

Hello Lucas, It's good to see you found Christian Forums. I took a moment to look at your site (IMDEX dot org) and ran across this "Recommendation from Lucas White."

This list of "recommendations" is disconcerting to me. Are these men and women among your secular "heroes?" What is it about them that you admire to call them hero, or otherwise "recommend" them and prominently feature them on your site?
Hi Pilgrim, that page is where I recommend the artist who produced the art for those encyclopedia entries. It is not a list of recommendations of those figures, but I do have a great interest in German history. Let me cut right to the heart of the question though. Do I consider these to be my "secular heroes"? My honest answer is...

...that I think that even in the individual who has committed perhaps the worst crimes, let's say Adolf Hitler, that we can admire their good qualities without feeling guilty. We should study all such important figures, and never choose not knowing (ignorance) over knowledge...

...Now I also have a strong sense of shock humor and a love of militarism, and I love to make jokes about Nazis and use their history in all kinds of ways. That is my honest answer, and you are welcomed to your opinion about it.

So you recommend the artist who did the art (that you don't recommend), that you feature prominently on your web site...is that what you mean?

What qualities do you find good and admire from the list of people you study? Stay with the example you cited.

Lucas, I am reviewing your web site (IMDEX dot org) a bit more and somehow wound up on (shinkshank dot com). What is the connection between these two sites:

(IMDEX dot org)
  • IMDEX.org is an online encyclopedia. Please enjoy and contact us if you would like to contribute.
(shinkshank dot com)
  • ShinkShank.com is an online encyclopedia. Please enjoy and contact us if you would like to contribute.
The two sites appear to be "almost" clones of one another with a few changes here and there. Are they intended for different audiences?
Haha, you were teleported to that site by ways unknown to me. I will always remember you as the first visitor. Or was it all a dream? :) Actually that one will be released later. Anyways was nice to meet you today.

My opinion is not important and matters not. The heart of the issue is God's will for us, as Christians (believers, sinners/saved), and our faith, love, and trust in God, while forsaking things of this world.

Lucas, I am reviewing your web sites (IMDEX dot org) and (shinkshank dot com) a bit more because you posted a link in your original post inviting us to visit. Somehow I land on another Lucas White Production which appears to be an online blogging community:

Well yes but don't tell the clowns, might offend them. ;)

To be exact, my use of the word "Recommendation" on the page referenced was a recommendation of the artist. I recommend the art too. It is quirky good, very lovable. I wish more historical art were drawn like that.

Well let's start with the most difficult sale, Adolf Hitler. Some might reference his oration ability, or his ability to get people on his side and lead. To me, his best quality was his iron will. There is no denying that one any more than Napoleon, Caesar, etc. All immoral people but all incredibly important.

By your third comment, I do agree with what was stated. I agree less with what I read (between the lines) as the implication, that we should not have passionate interest in study of immoral characters. I disagree for the reason mentioned previously. I respect your opinion though.
