Celebrating With A Medieval Drink

I went to confession today, both, because I had committed several mortal sins, and because have been having a really hard time with anger issues this week. After I went, I felt really great, and even though I struggled with temptations at first, I clung tightly to Our Blessed Mother, and received her comfort and peace. At 3 o'clock today, I was able to pray the stations of the Cross today without being troubled by the painful thoughts and memories I had been tormented earlier this week. To celebrate going to confession today and receiving Our Lord's mercy, I had a good lunch today, as well as a good dinner, with dessert during both meals (I usually skip desserts, during Lent) and I also had this with dessert after dinner:

This is cyser, mead (Honey wine) with apples, I found this while looking for Guinness for St. Patrick's day. For those of you who don't know, this isn't the first time I had mead, I also had melomel (mead with fruit, in this case cherries) for the Feast of the Assumption:

I was interested in mead due to me being history buff and then later, a Traditional Catholic. Though I don't remember exactly what the melomel tasted like, I like the cyser more. When it comes the my preferences for alcoholic beverages, my favourite is probably red wine, (although I haven't tried white wine yet) specifically the sweet Italian sangue di guida wine:

Right now, I have British Columbia-brewed red wine, in support of the BC Wineries against Alberta's ban on BC wine. Not that I'm necessarily against the pipe-line, it's simply that as a Traditional Catholic, I support the Traditional Catholic socio-economic teaching of supporting one's own local community and region first and foremost, we're not globalists.

In regards to other alcoholic beverages I have right now, I have Guinness, (as mentioned above) for St. Patrick's day, and also some tequila left over from the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. As it's Lent right now, I probably won't be drinking that much alcohol until April, when Lent is over and I'll start celebrating the various feast days in that month, including the Feast of the Annunciation, one of the most important Feasts for a Marian devotee. I hope to take advantage of one of those feasts to try some white wine, probably something from a BC brewer in support of my province, and maybe get some Bourbon, as I also like Bourbon, as well as try some other alcoholic beverage.

Well that's all for now, just thought I'd share a lighter moment I'm having right now, I've got to work on enjoying life more, and delight in being a Catholic who loves Our Lady and should rejoice in having her for a Mother. As mentioned in my last blog entry, I will be working on posting a new entry on Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary, hopefully it will be my next entry and soon. Thanks for reading, until then...
