Ben Johnson's 2nd point of his works based doctrine - replied to

One reason I hit on points 11-15 first is because they most directly speak to the argument of "responsible grace" but this point has no bearing on the argument at hand and is in and of itself irrelevant to this conversation.

This point offers no support whatsoever to the erroneous works-based doctrine of responsible grace. All one needs to do is to read down the list of points offered to see that the crux of the argument lies not in getting saved but in staying saved.

The verse provided - John 6:40 - completely supports the doctrine of eternal security and totally shaters any idea of responsible grace. Take a look:

For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

There is nothing there of what one has to do in order to stay saved. All that is required is faith in Jesus - nothing there about falling away - nothing there about rebelling. In fact it is clear how we have and keep eternal life - it is given to us - and we are raised up by Jesus.

But responsible "grace" teachers tell us we have to continue in steadfast belief. They don't say anything about doing so through Christ - who keeps us steadfast.
