Atheism and the Conflict Thesis
If I would have taken the time to write out a basic outline and notes I would have explored the conflict thesis more. It is a largely debunked historical theory that proposes an antagonist relationship between religion and science. This thesis is more dubious in the Christian West than many propose. People like to focus on Galileo and Copernicus, but ignore the greater role that the Christian Churches and Monasteries played on preserving the Greco-Roman intellectual heritage, and the fact they even invented a few useful things themselves like double entry accounting and batching tasks (the basis of assembly line manufacture).
