Are God And Satan Equal?

There seems to be this idea that God and the devil are equals, wrestling for control over this world and for the souls of mankind. However, I often forget that God is in full control and has the devil on a short leash. They are not equal by any means.

The devil doesn't rule over Hell, God does.

Matthew 25:41 said:
"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

Only God is omnipotent (All-Powerful). The devil may have some power. But, God is infinitely more powerful, and has complete authority and power over Satan. Christians walking in obedience to the Lord also have authority over demons / the devil.

Luke 10:19 said:
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Isaiah 54:17 said:
No weapon formed against you shall prosper . . .

Only God is omnipresent (All-Present).

1 Kings 8:27 said:
"But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain You, how much less this house which I have built!

Psalms 139:7-8 said:
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.

Only God is omniscient (All-Knowing). God can and has outsmarted Satan, and He has never been taken by surprise. Satan's knowledge is limited.

Romans 11:34 said:
"Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?"

Job 21:22 said:
Can anyone teach knowledge to God, since he judges even the highest?

Satan was defeated at the cross, and is reserved for judgment.

Genesis 3:15 said:
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."

1 John 3:8 said:
The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.

John 12:31 said:
"Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.

Satan has to ask for permission before doing anything to God's elect. God however is completely free to do whatever He pleases.

Luke 22:31 said:
"Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat.

Isaiah 46:10 said:
. . . My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please

Job 2:6 said:
The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, he is in your power; only spare his life"

God holds the devil in derision, and scoffs at his plans.

Psalms 2:4-5 said:
The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, . . .

The devil is a created being; God has always existed and has the power to create.

Colossians 1:16 said:
For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.

Revelation 1:8 said:
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, y“who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

The devil is a coward; God is the King of glory / Lord of hosts.

James 4:7 said:
Be subject therefore unto God; but resist the Devil, and he will flee from you.

Psalms 24:9-10 said:
Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.

One day every knee will bow before God, including Satan's.

Romans 14:11 said:
It is written: "'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.'"
