We don’t know when Jesus will return. It truly could be at any moment. We should all take this moment to check ourselves against the instructions found in the Bible. Jesus himself made it clear that the most important teaching is to love God with all your heart and to love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:36-40). If we love God, we will demonstrate that love by serving others with love. Every encounter we have with another human being should come from a place of love. That’s a tall order. The world we live in is permeated by an evil force that pushes us away from our loving spirit. In order to remain ready for the return of Jesus, we need to put on the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) and stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
What a glorious day it will be when Jesus returns. There’s nothing we should want more than to be found to be a ready servant on His arrival. Your vigilance will be rewarded by the ultimate servant, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
“It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them.” Luke 12:37 (NIV)
