As you can probably tell, I consider learning what God is trying to do in us as a very important subject. It is a matter of life and death. Maybe not death as far as your salvation goes but death in your growth and maturity as a believer in Yeshua. I see so many floundering believers, not understanding how to live for God and mature in Christ. They don't know how to resist the devil or how to submit to Gods will nor even that they are supposed to. They're thinking that church is going to a building every week. meeting up with your peers, donuts and coffee before the service, jumping up and down singing and shouting for God, then hearing a 10 minute pep talk of how God loves them and has a wonderful plan for their lives, but they are never told how they can expect that plan to play out and what their part in the action is. They then go home and return to their life as usual.
There is more though, and while it's not always fun it is always an adventure. Kinda like riding the scariest roller coaster ever built, but the Holy Spirit is right there next to you, making sure you are secure in your seat and being there to hold on to. At times it may seem like you're about to fly out of the seat but God has you securely strapped in. You ain't going anywhere as long as you stay put next to him.
I'm reminded of the song Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth (BIBLE) by Burlap To Chashmere. God has given us an instruction manuel on how to live the life of someone who is trusting in Yeshua for their salvation. By reading it and following the instructions in it we can live that abundant life that Yeshua talked about, growing and maturing in Him able to show ourselves approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth (2 Tim 2:15)
