Right so..goals. I'm pretty sure I've done a few blog entries about this.
So here are my plans, God-willing, for 2018.
1. Create a vision board.
I'm a visual person so printing and cutting out pictures of my goals and any motivational quotes and verses is something that clicks with me. It can be from magazine cut-outs, Google images, your year book, etc. It's also going to be right on my bedroom wall so that when I wake up every morning, it's one of the first things I see.
2. Make your goals realistic, but don't be afraid to dream BIG.
Don't underestimate the God we serve. He's bigger than the universe. He made it after all. Whatever problems are standing in your way, He can part the Red Sea of your obstacles, issues.. and make a way. Keep your faith up.
3. Make a deadline.
There's nothing wrong with making a 'deadline'.
And if you don't happen to actually achieve the goal within the time-frame you made, extend it as you see fit. So long as you're making progress towards it, don't beat yourself up. Baby-steps, right? Every little things counts. For football, every inch counts. For money, every penny (nickel? for us Canadians) counts.
4. Encourage yourself in the Lord.
Shut those lies of the enemy down with the truths of God (His Word).
Preach to yourself. Even if you don't feel like it. If I waited every time I felt happy to do something..let's just say someone would have finished sculpting me in great detail. Preach to yourself like you're the coach giving yourself a pre-game pep talk. You know the ones who yell but are still motivational? Yeah, those ones.
You probably feel like this whole this is pointless. Like nothing's going to get better so why bother even making goals. I get it. I was at a place in my life where I had no job, was not in school, did not have my license, was extremely depressed, was dealing with a lot of emotional hurt and after-effects of workplace bullying. I had a lot of recovery to do..and I thank God for helping me to lift my head up and heal me from the inside out..which was a slow and gruelling process..often met with tears because of the immense discouragement I felt during that time. But God's grace keeps me going. His grace and love kept me putting one foot in front of the other.
Whatever you're struggling with..lay it down at the foot of the cross. Some burdens are never meant to be carried. It's meant to be given and surrendered to the only One Who can bear it. "Cast your burden on the Lord [release it] and He will sustain and uphold you;
He will never allow the righteous to be shaken (slip, fall, fail)." Psalm 55:22

My 2018 Goals..Lord-willing:
- Get my first car [save, save, save]
- Be more selfless [I know being single is great and all (speak for yourself, right?
)..but this is something I need to work on with His help]
- Go on a word-fast. [Basically go on a 40-day challenge in which I refrain from saying anything negative, judgemental, or criticising someone. And hopefully..40 days will extend to years. Even if you happen to slip up, reset and start again.]
- Get back on track with exercising + gluten & sugar-free eating
And that's pretty much it. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, but don't be afraid to dream big
Oh and here's an image from Google on how a vision board can look like. It can also be a bristol/poster board taped up to your wall of magazine pictures/text, inspirational Bible verses/quotes of whatever inspires you and whatever relates to your goals.
