I always wondered which Bible verses fundementalists must hate the most. I would consider myself to be an orthodox Christian (for example, I believe that homosexuality is wrong), but righ-wing televangelists like Pat Robertson completely miss the point of Jesus' teachings. These seem to me Bible verses they would never quote:
"38"You have heard that it was said, `An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' 39But I say to you, Do not resist one who is evil. But if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also; 40and if any one would sue you and take your coat, let him have your cloak as well; 41and if any one forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42Give to him who begs from you, and do not refuse him who would borrow from you." Matthew 5:38-42
"24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." Matthew 19:24
"26For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so faith apart from works is dead." James 2:26
and of course, the story of Jesus saving the adulterous woman, and parable of the Pharisee and tax collector.
