It does.

I'm not kidding.
Correction please.

Waldorf, not Statler.

My mistake.

Because frankly that dating is subject to error upon error.

http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1871101414000168

Radiocarbon dating is absolutely unable to measure any ages in the range of 10 million years. If one knew the approximate date in advance, it would be a waste of money to attempt radiocarbon dating. Anyway, organic carbon isn't found in volcanic rocks. That's another reason to not use the method. So linking to an article that discusses difficulties in carbon dating things in the context of AV1611's question is inappropriate.

You're assuming the earth has gone around the sun that many times, and adjusting your description accordingly.

I didn't mention anything about the passage of time in my OP.

Oh, you're thinking of your crazy "embedded age" ideas, which most of us don't accept, so since we are most of us normal people, to say something is that old is to say that much time has passed.

Of couse, you can easily have age without time when you just make up numbers...

Was Adam a normal person?

Was he born, or did he come on the scene as an adult?

Apparently you missed my formula for determining embedded age.

Physical Age - Exestintial Age = Embedded Age

Take me for instance:

Physical Age: 61 (in a few days)
Existential Age: 61 (in a few days)
Embedded Age: 0

Now take Adam:

Physical Age: 20 or 30
Existential Age: 0
Embedded Age: 20 or 30

Any numbers here look "made up" to you?

Of course. The age of Adam. You do realize that we know that there was never an "Adam", don't you? When Jesus referred to Adam or Noah at best the references were allegorical.

Yes. Embedded age.

And if any number in a formula is made up, the result is also made up.

We call made-up numbers "examples."

It helps one to understand the formula.

Except the examples aren't examples of anything -- every "embedded" number is made up.

-- every "embedded" number is made up.

So if I believe God embedded 4.47 billion years of age into the earth, I made that number up?

Or am I agreeing with the conclusion of science?

Are you insinuating that the parables that Jesus told weren't real events He witnessed?
Why do you think that they had to be real? There is nothing to indicate that they were based upon real events and more than enough reasons to deduce that they were merely teaching tools. And please don't say that God could not lie. The belief in an embedded age is a belief in a God that lies. That is one of the huge problems with such a belief.

Why do you think that they had to be real?

Because I'm a literalist, and that means my default position is literal, unless I have reason to believe otherwise.

There is nothing to indicate that they were based upon real events and more than enough reasons to deduce that they were merely teaching tools.

As I said, unless otherwise convinced, I'll take the view that they were real events.

And please don't say that God could not lie.

I won't.

There's no reason to have to say it.

The belief in an embedded age is a belief in a God that lies.

Until you can demonstrate that you understand it, I'll take that comment with a grain of salt.

And if you do demonstrate that you understand it, I'll take that comment as blasphemy.
