My mother named me after John the Apostle.
Also, the Apostle John was who he was...what can I say here.
His Gospel is my favorite for many many reasons, and Jesus chose him to keep after His mother. :)

My middle name is David, as in the King. ;)

True story.

John is my favorite as well. There's something about his writing and his character. Very sweet and loving, I guess. I don't know how else to describe it. lol Just have a fondness for him. :)

John David is the set of names my wife and I had picked out if we had ever had a son of our bodies. It's good to know that someone with a faith and compassionate nature as strong as yours bears it.

I like John's Gospel the best, it has so many great passages that teach who Jesus really was - the vine, Good Shepherd and so on. But that probably means that John himself was theologically minded and reflective - not like me at all.

Of the 12, I think I'd like to say Andrew, because he brought people to Jesus, or made it possible for them to find him, (John 1:41, 6:8-9, 12:22). But maybe I'm kinda biased because Andrew was my brother's name.

There is probably more of Peter in me than I care to admit.

I have two family members named after Apostles, my Dad for St John and my boyfriend for St Andrew.

I've always felt closer to St Andrew, but maybe that's because I automatically add a quick prayer for his help for my Andrew and for me each night in my prayers.

i'm a recovering cusser...i can soooo relate

but my fav'rite has got to be John, the one Jesus loved...he knew the best place to be, always....right there resting his head on Jesus' chest....

O Apostle John, speaker of Deity,
The beloved of Christ our God,
Hasten to deliver your people,
powerless in speech,
For He on whose bosom you lean
Accepts you as an intercessor.
Beseech Him, therefore,
To disperse the darkness of ignorance,
and pray for peace,
And great mercies to be shown upon us.

Forgive me...

What a beautiful prayer, OUSA. I am going to save that. Thanks for sharing!

Although we don't know much about him, I'm inspired by Nathaniel. They say he was Bartholomew. What I love is his heartfelt cry when Jesus said He saw him under the fig tree. "You are the Son of God, you are the King of Israel!" He must have been a very zealous, enthusiastic disciple. :)
