While it is possible that Jesus and some of his apostles knew and used Greek (at least on certain occasions), it is clear that their primary language of communication was Aramaic and, quite possibly, Hebrew as well. Here is the key evidence. - See more at:
Jason, there is only 1 name of the lord.
The Name is a) divinely bestowed and b) above all other names.
The Name is important.
Philippians 2:9-11, translated by NASB, says:
9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,
10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
However. Mary was told exactly what to name Jesus. The New Testament provides many names for our Lord: the Word, the Way, the Truth, the Life; He is God, the Son of God, the Son of Man, the saviour, and so on.
My point was in agreement with the Greek and Aramaic.I already mentioned both Greek and Aramaic in my first post.
"Jesus" is not close to either.
Rom 14:11Verse?
The scholars are wrong, but the Greek translation is what we have, so it is ok to use.
The Pope is wrong. He hasn't even got an original autograph. The Pope even agrees that it was Aramaic that Jesus spoke.
This is a totally religious argument far removed from the Gospel of Truth and the freedom in Christ we have.Per Acts 4:12, there is only 1 name that can save.
Jesus is not even close to the original Greek or Aramaic pronunciations.
Per Acts 4:12, there is only 1 name that can save.
Jesus is not even close to the original Greek or Aramaic pronunciations.
It is not one speech enunciation. God is bigger than a spoken pattern."bestowed on him the name that is above every name"
Thats what I said. There is only 1 divine name above every name.
