In the Alberta Rockies they have also found sea creature's shells on the tops of the mountains. Not because the tops of the mountains (in their full form) were covered with water but because our mountains grew AFTER they were covered with water.

Rombot I have only one problem with this. When God says it happened that outweighs all the 0 evidence some say they don't have.
1) GOD didn't say it to us right now. It was written in the Bible
2) The Bible wasn't written in English, so you really can't be sure EXACTLY what "God" said because the ancient Israelites wouldn't have understood Him if he did speak in English.
3) There is also the likely possibility that this story is also an allegory (which I don't necessarily ascribe to).
4) Even if there are events that God says happens, there would STILL be evidence of that. Otherwise maybe your understanding of what "God said" may be wrong. Have you considered that possibility?

And the most important question of all. How did Noah prevent leaks on the Ark? Ships leak, so require bilge pumps, typically running from electricity or a manual pump in olden days. But pumps didn't exist in 3000 BC.
Bitumen. Natural deposits can be found around the world.

Another key use for bitumen is waterproofing. For instance, it was commonly used to waterproof boats and other marine vessels, as well as the sides of buildings. It was used in ancient times as mortar in building construction.

We found half of a clamshell that's about 3" across at a little over 9,000 ft.

Yeah, tar did exist back then. But, did Noah have access to tar?

It never ever was a myth to me, and I'm not changing the Bible.
I came across an interesting description of a "myth". "a founding narrative that accentuates certain traits of the reality which it describes in order to clarify its meaning." Andre Vauchez

I think that puts it well.

That's one kind of myth.

But what is clarified by flood- myth?

It is a morality narrative. The evil are killed and the good (though very few) survive.
How does that clarify anything?
It's a super simple idea that needs no
clarifying.

IF, in fact, one can determine original intent
and it was meant to be as you say it does an
incredibly poor job.

The morality of mass murder in a prolonged
And terrifying form. The morality of just warning
one guy. Of killing innocent children. Of wiping out
billions of innocent animals. Of alienating possible
converts by requiring they accept fiction as fact?

What morality narrative is that?

Then there's sowing vast confusion and discord
among those who read the story in myriad conflicting
ways.

Who authored such a thing? why? Did they
believe it, or acknowledge they just made it up?

Your answer seems to me woefully inadequate.

Super simple ideas go in one ear and out the other. A big fancy story sticks around in your head.

I dont think myths clarify, really. Mainly they put cultural values into story form.

Yes.

And I can seriously do without THOSE values!

If you read the original Mesopotamian versions of the story it is a round reed boat sealed with bitumen (tar). It bubbles to the surface in some places like in Mesopotamia.
